Tesla is recalling all 3,878 Cybertrucks that it has shipped to date, due to a problem where the accelerator pedal can get stuck, putting drivers at risk of a crash
"Here at Tesla we got CYBERTRUK!
Nothing stops CYBERTRUK!
No, really, we have tried everything, and we can't get the CYBERTRUK!s to stop. Please send help."
"There are no public sources with details on how many Vision Pros have been sold, though estimates of around 200,000 units were suggested by an industry analyst a week ago."

Apple: You know that metaverse headset?
Everyone: Yes. We all hate it and make fun of it constantly.
Apple: Well we've got great news for you. Something that is twice as big and ten times as expensive!
Yes, it's awful. Tongue-in-cheek jokes about them put aside, the Cybertruck has been a genuinely damaging product for Tesla's bottom line. It's inflicting a serious amount of pain to the company right now.
This was their big gamble too. They haven't released anything else in like ten years now and nothing else on the horizon. Now there is a ton of competition in the EV market and the CEO is spending all his time having conversations with Neo-Nazi dorks on twitter.
People keep saying there’s a ton of competition but do you know of any available here in the US at or near the price point of the Tesla and being sold near the volume? This is not a snarky post, I genuinely hope there are, I just don’t follow or know about cars.
I'm not an expert but there are cheaper EVs from Hyundai and Kia now. Almost every manufacturer makes a model like the Chevy Bolt. And then with the nicer models there is competition from Rivian and fancier EVs.
Yea, basically, pick your preferred manufacturer and go to their website. I can pretty much guarantee you’ll find at least one EV on offer. Running the price range from the basic to the luxury. And all having been released,or at least refreshed, within the past two model years.
My anecdotal data as a pedestrian in a metro area is that every other damned car, regardless of marque, rolls past sounding like somebody sitting on a synth keyboard, so it seems like there are innumerable options for EVs today.
Agree on all points except 10 years timeframe.
Semi Dec ‘17 (struggling)
Roadster Dec ‘17 (vaporware)
Cybertruck Nov ‘19 (lol)
but
Model Y Mar ‘19 (best selling car in world 2023)
So 2 huge misses, a delayed semi, and a layup on a hatchback Model 3 variant sized up to hit the most popular segment.
They’d be doing a lot better with a 3 row stretched Model Y added to the lineup, because 7 seats in a tapered Model Y is a dangerous joke, and many customers just can’t afford a Model X. Or make a van on that drivetrain. Cybertruck was a hubris-driven waste of time like Model X was.
1. Damaged the stockholders.
2. Put numerous people in danger.
3. But...did make my techbro nephew stfu about how Elon is a true genius whom I lack the capacity to appreciate.
3 doesn't outweigh 1 and 2, but is still pretty cool.
Well to be fair, if you’re in the market for a truck you’ll buy a truck, not what appears to be the offspring of Doc Brown’s DeLorean and an El Camino.
I believe the CT is actually supply-constrained at the moment. Which isn’t surprising since they’ve had a waiting list since they announced it and it seems like it’s a pain in the ass to manufacture this thing. Tesla has tons of extra unsold cars sitting around but AFAIK it’s of their other models
If it goes under he's going to owe a great deal of money to Russia, China and Saudis.
They won't allow those debts to go unpaid.
The rest he borrowed is from banks and secured with stock in Twitter.
I came here to say similar, it has to be. I wouldn't be surprised if they took over 4,000 deposits on the first day it was announced.
I think they're releasing slowly in one region almost as a late stage beta test...
