WELP, all four of my new under-25 departmental hires did not pass their security checks ... because they all lied about something on their background screeners. I am *extremely* annoyed about this, and I hope that there are at least a few young folks out there who understand why this is bad.

This is super important work. And it looks like it's actually having an effect. Normal people learn about Project 2025 and are scared as shitless as they should be. The Nation, The New Republic, Rolling Stone, Boston Review and others are doing the work that NYT and WaPo are neglecting.

Biden is not owed good press by a long shot. But the amount of coverage his age is receiving relative to that of Trump's very real past and promised future actions strikes me as one of the greatest media mis-prioritizations since the run-up to the Iraq War.

I feel like way too few people appreciate just how much of a watershed moment the swiftboating of John Kerry was for this country. It proved to the far right that they could just say things that were provably, objectively untrue during a campaign, and the media would always aid and abet those lies.

I don't take the age thing seriously. THEY PICK A LIE ABOUT EVERY DEM, and the press knows it's some BS but plays along. They know that the other guy is worse in every way, especially his brain. They turned being a war hero into a liability against a fortunate son draft dodger.

"Executive Time" fell out of the coverage of Donald Trump in the most incredible way. Nobody writing about his quest to become president again ever mentions the fact that he hated the job when he had it and he couldn't and wouldn't really do it!

This times a million. If we switch over to Harris at this late stage, effectively nothing will change—except that the never-ending media-led panic over Biden's age shifts over to Harris's inexperience and unpreparedness for the role. That would actually be quite a bit worse to weather.

The media has been out for Biden’s head ever since he bravely withdrew from Afghanistan. See: making great job reports seem negative. I’m almost coming around to rolling with Kamala just because otherwise there will be no Trump reporting. Only Joe’s age. Though they’ll likely do the same to her.

The fact that I know more about Joe Biden’s one bad debate night than I do about Donald Trump’s years of raping and sexually assaulting girls within Jeffrey Epstein’s child sex trafficking ring shows exactly what is terribly wrong with today’s political mainstream media.

The best history prof I had at UT (RIP) told us exactly this on the first day that we started covering the US Civil War. Told the whole damn lecture hall of like 400+ students that if there's one lesson that we all should take away from this unit, it's that we didn't go hard enough on the traitors.

Every day proves Thaddeus Stevens right: there should've been big Nuremberg-style public trials of leading Confederates, accompanied by seizures of the assets of all pro-Confederate large landowners and businessmen, which should then have been distributed to freed slaves as compensation.
