Every time I see this man's name my entire body clenches up.

I think he's going to be re-elected and I'm not going to be able to stand living here.

He's the perfect mayor for all the city's rich centrists. Capitalism above all else. It's so disgusting.
Avatar
If he gets reelected he's going to run for President. A Black law and order strongman candidate. Perfect.
Avatar
i absolutely hate it but you’re probably right if there are elections in 2028, i would not be surprised if he was the Dem candidate
Avatar
i mean we need some actually good candidates this time. I voted for Wiley but god that primary was bleak
Avatar
You are not alone his approval rating is in the 20s

The problem is who is the city going to get together and agree to replace him. Cause I don't see us being able to work that out.

The cool thing is that we have ranked choice voting for the only election that matters so Not Adams is a functional strategy

Despite how much NYers don't like ranked choice, I voted that way for a decade in California and I think it's a fantastic system.
Avatar
We actually have recent polling this past month show NYC voters support RCV 2:1.
Avatar
I think a bad choice won by half a percent once and now people assume they don’t like it when nobody involved (not candidates, not voters) actually tried it

Ranked choice is a great system. NY is extremely corrupt and dysfunctional on multiple levels, and the NYC BoE is no exception. The fact that ranked choice has issues in NY doesn't mean it's unworkable even here, let alone elsewhere

Isn't the problem closed primaries in conjunction with RCV? I mean RCV gave us Eric Adams vs Sliwa, who won their respective primaries? I love CA's thing where the top two on to the general.

I may not be a big city dweller, but may I suggest a charismatic miniature horse as mayor?
Avatar
NYC needs a bodega cat mayor.
Avatar
Hell, I'd imagine they'd take anyone over Adams right now.

Is there not a recall election provision in the city's election laws? I feel like some cities can recall their mayors when they turn out as horrifically as this one has.
Avatar
Put a dog in charge. I'm not kidding. It will work and it will be infuriating that you ever had a mayor who wasn't a dog.

So, is this an example of political party not being a good indicator of how well a politician will handle a job?
Avatar
When it comes to cities, party is immaterial. All politics is local and New York’s politics is real messed up

With Democrats like this, who needs Republicans!

Dems are Republican lite it seems

This man is determined to run this city into the dirt all to make his cop buddies happy.

Starve our kids so we can afford to bomb someone else's kids. Way to go, USA. Way to go..

I guess if they want NYC money they can grow up and be cops.
