France dropkicked a baldly fascist political coalition out of office, imo if we can’t manage to do the same we should give back the Statue of Liberty

I’m just trying to figure out if y’all think the 90% of Black women who vote for Democrats do so because we’re stupid, or because we’re part of the “liberal elite”?

A good public transit system should be just as effective as driving. An excellent public transit service would make driving seem ridiculous. The only reason we don't have that is because we decided not to fund it. It's a simple as that.

I keep thinking about how the SCOTUS justices, who have proven they care a TON about their media coverage, issued the worst decision since Dredd Scott and then got to happily watch outlets spend the next week running 10,000 “Biden in Trouble” stories and like 5 “Hm, Immunity is Interesting” stories

I do captioning for a living, & a big part of my job is cleaning up false starts & filler words. That has always been the norm at every media outlet. Print media edits Trump so carefully that you would never know what he actually sounds like. Doing this to Biden is a 180 from decades of policy.
Now everyone--The Times and, sorry to say, MSNBC--is noting every missed syllable. The man has a stutter. I don't stutter but I am a mushmouth who speaks too fast and slurs words. I've had to overcome fear of public speaking. I have empathy for Biden. The press has empathy for no one (but Trump).

The fact they're simultaneously running don't vote campaigns and trying to undermine the dem candidate is proof that the moneybags who own these publications are united in realizing their robber baron days are drawing to a close under a guy who is the most pro labour president of the 21st century

Biden being one of the least big business friendly Presidents of the modern era is also a big factor. he's done more to muzzle them than anyone in this century
Biden's age and poor debate showing is obviously a legit story, but what we've seen over the last week is a hysterical feeding frenzy aimed at some combination of self-vindication, settling old scores, claiming a scalp, and the desire of some in the media to have Trump back in power. (1/2)

Hey, friends, if you see me on here before the weekend, remind me that I said I would stay away from here until the weekend.

The Venn diagram of people who get angry at people for continuing to do things they enjoy while Gaza burns & the people who think voting a couple times should have been enough to stop fascism is a circle. The world doesn't stop turning. They don't just go away.
Oh yeah, it's never worked, that's why it took the Republicans half a century to get to the theocratic fascist takeover that Reagan allied with the religious right to achieve. If it "never worked," we wouldn't have ever gotten the rights that are now being rolled back, you dingus.

Are negative odds an option? The odds are unironically greater of the election simply not happening than any third party candidate winning 270. I’d bet huge sums against one winning a single electoral vote, absent the help of a faithless elector.
Honest question: there’s no widespread support for third parties (I think we can agree), they haven’t laid the state by state foundation or track record necessary to convince people, first past the post … what do you, good faith, think the odds of a third party winning this year are?

TIL that the New Wave band DEVO was formed in response to the Kent State shootings. In 1970, co-founders Gerald Casale and Bob Lewis got serious about their idea of the "de-evolution" of the human race after Casale's friends Jeffrey Miller & Allison Krause were killed by OH national guards.

"voting doesn't make a difference" ok sure mate, now I just gotta decide which is more likely, that all the votes in all the elections in all the world have never mattered in any way or that some cynical lackwit on the internet is wrong

A total ban is the only sane policy for Airbnb. There obviously needs to be accommodation in cities for visitors, but that shouldn’t be at the expense of housing units for people who actually live there. More governments should follow Barcelona’s lead.

fuck man, I don't even know what to say anymore. One political party wants to burn everything to the ground and institute theocratic, kleptocratic autocracy. I think this is bad, just one man's opinion.

Keeping Trump out of the White House isn’t the only thing that needs doing and it isn’t enough to solve all problems facing the country & world but if it isn’t done then all those problems get exponentially worse in ways I don’t even know how to express and it scares me when people pretend otherwise
