Bad year for the far right 👀👀👀
BREAKING NEWS: Voters turned out in numbers not seen in decades to stop the far-right National Rally from taking power in the French National Assembly. Polls predicted a first-place finish for National Rally, which instead came in third in initial results as polling stations closed.

Some Millennials in my timeline are insecure because Gen Zs are telling them their ankle socks age them. I can't stress enough that you don't need to care about what a bunch of 20-somethings think about your clothes, mainly bc you don't have to care about what ANYONE thinks about your clothes.

Wherever we land on the Biden business “Biden, Harris to have lunch” being breaking news is very funny.

I think Leslye Headland gets it. The complaint "Star Wars directors have been too big fans of Star Wars" is valid but The Acolyte's creative team seems to be striking a solid balance. Still a flawed show but I'm leaning towards it being "good, with great moments" if it makes even a modest landing.
Elden Ring Community Heroes Like Let Me Solo Her Helped Inspire The Acolyte's Hit Villain - IGNwww.ign.com The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland recently revealed that The Master's flowy armor (and exposed muscles) were inspired by scantily clad Elden Ring badasses like Let Me Solo Her.

I wrote this just last week and I glanced at Twitter to see a well-backed creator posting race-baiting thumbnails. Not great!
Dr Disrespect sent explicit messages to a minor and deserves 100% accountability for his actions. But he only got to that point because sponsors and business rewarded him for toxic behavior. He's not the only one. Devs and sponsors need to step up and not rewarding professional assholes.
Opinion: Dr Disrespect's ousting should be a wake-up call for devswww.gamedeveloper.com Dr Disrespect's sponsors should have seen his behavior coming from a mile away.

@jbouie.bsky.social a lot going on right now but I tuned into Unclear and Present Danger for the first time and the First Contact episode was so good. Helped me grok “Hegelian dialectical” a little more than I did before.

Disney you gotta let your streaming shows be 10-12 episodes and at least 40 minutes, we can’t keep doing this. Let television *be* television

Wherever the Biden campaign goes after this week I hope it gets a splash of cold water that some kind of drastic change is needed to meet this moment.

I think people seriously underestimate how most people don't really care about the news and just vote based on something like "yeah he seems cool" or "people aren't going to vote for Bernie he's a socialist"
I don't actually think the DNC is all that responsible for Clinton or Biden being the nominee. Primary voters genuinely thought they were the strongest candidate to beat Trump!

I don’t know if we should be looking at this from a “luck” standpoint. There were, and are, plenty of candidates that would crush Trump. These are DNC decisions that are…questionable at best being generous to them.

Trump’s spent his entire life chasing total immunity—sometimes out of fear but mostly entitlement. Yesterday’s ruling validates his most basic instinct: he is entitled to whatever he wants.

Americans across the political spectrum are all deeply mired in “apocalypse realism”, in which it is easier to imagine the end of the world than to imagine the world not ending. This widespread imaginary just happens to motivate the people who want the world to end while depressing everyone else.
Honestly, I don't know how doomerism has survived the long arc of history. We used to grovel under kings. Slavery was the law of the land. Fascist authoritarians conquered a democracy and declared war on a continent and a people. And, all of that was overcome. It ceased. History didn't end.

95% of the “Biden must step aside” argument rests on wishcasting a perfect storm: Biden steps down gracefully, there’s minimal fallout for Dems, Kamala steps aside, a talented young gun steps in and performs well. It’s not impossible but to act like it’s a layup is nuts.

the other reason why i'm skeptical that a convention would pick a better nominee is that the nomination would almost certainly be considered, privately at least, damaged goods. your most likely choices will be candidates who otherwise would have no chance of winning in a regular contest.

Unless you're writing something very formal, try to write how you talk. Don't try to sound smart by using unnatural vocabulary or elaborate phrasing - you're more likely to trip yourself up. Also, don't try to copy other writers' style; you want to stand out, not be indistinguishable from the crowd.
if u see this, quote-post with your tips for writers that no one gives anymore because they seem obvious (even though they're not)

Best part about The Boys The Show is that Eric Kripke will respond to questions about how he wanted to do things in the comics with, "it just wasn't interesting to me"
Four seasons and two spinoffs on, I'm still so mad that The Boys is as good as it is considering the comic is... the worst?
