Here's your random adulting reminder to check & see if you currently have the best internet package your internet provider sells because I just downgraded the cost of my monthly bill by $5 & increased how good my internet is by A LOT because I forgot to check for 4 years if they had a better package
A few years ago I was getting like 25mpbs and paying like $50/mo. Then I went on the website and found that they donβt even offer anything below 50mbps anymore for that price, but I guess made an exception so I could keep paying for less speed. Awesome.
I haven't renewed my plan in many years, and I've been slowly watching the bill creep up. Unfortunately I always forget about it until next month when I get billed again π
If itβs spectrum, it bills you for the previous monthβso go ahead and call them whenever. They basically told me to call and βsee what deals they haveβ every time my bill goes up
It's Comcast, I ~think~ they bill ahead but not 100%. Although I think I can switch to a competitor and get something like 2x.the speed for half the price. There are options, I just need to quit slacking haha
it might be worth browsing other provider's deals and calling your ISP and telling them you were offered another package and you want to know what they can offer to keep you as a customer or if they offer "loyalty rewards" or something
Honestly even if you have really good speeds they probably donβt go that highβ¦ I have 500 mbps but never get much above 250. Try threatening to switch companies, worked for me lol
I went from $110 phone bill and $75 internet bill to $56.99 for both together in a package because I played Spectrum and Verizon off one another and all it took was a phone call to each.
the question is why it is necessary to need to check as a business they should want to give you the best service as cheaply as they can instead the company policies these days is rip them off and give them bad service unless we get caught car manufacturers make it impossible to work on it yourself
also at the end of the discounted rate to spend 10 mins talking to chat support and telling the ISP the price increase doesnβt work for your budget. i have xfinity in an area that doesnβt have other ISPs and have managed to keep 1.2gbps for 5 years at $75 despite them raising it to $100+ each time
My mom was on the same plan for a decade - 512 kbps, 1.5 gig maximum data per month. This was a home ADSL line with a data cap. Wasnβt an issue until 2015 when she got Netflix!
The incumbent were just starting to jack up my price as my contract ended this month. Changed to Briant, local company. Someone in an office a mile away picked up the phone, they came and installed the following week. No complaints, can recommend.
Also if you have at least 2 options (we have FiOS and Optimum) switch from one to another once the promotional price expires. I've been juggling mine for many years now.
The famous joke about Microsoft applies to my ISP. They just keep telling me how great fiber internet will be when I finally get it, but of course I never do.
Called my provider re adding VOIP to internet. Was told I was "grandfathered" in & that she could get me a new package at 2yr fixed price.
My 3 Qs: what does "grandfathered" mean & if I move out of it, will I pay more? Also, what happens after 2 yrs? Might the price then jump beyond my means? ππ
We have kept our ADSL even as the price has crept up and other options become available, because it is bundled with our land line and if we change plans we will lose the land line because AT&T are dicks, and I refuse to not have a land line
