Me either! And big pickups especially aren't particularly fun to drive. Would be interesting to see what actually switched the midlife crisis/douchebag market from sports, muscle, and Euro performance cars to things the size of pocket dump trucks.
You also get the idea that he's thinking, most of the time, rather than intentionally putting a sci-fi paintjob on a set of prejudices. He's got plenty, but I don't remember his writing feeling like it was done in their service.
My biggest beef with RAH isn't the *cringe,* but another issue.
