Rowling was never a good ally. She made Dumbledore gay after the fact without ever showing it and claiming there was subtext there that really wasn't. It was tepid, convenient, symbolic allyship AT BEST, and her transphobic bullshit throws even that half-assed effort into question.

Rowling has made it clear that supporting her is a direct attack on trans people and the more of a PR nightmare we can make the upcoming Potter series for Warners the better
