I just read an article that said "Why is it taking so long for your favorite movies and tv series to air? Blame the writers and actor strikes" No I won't. I'm blaming that ✨single✨ motherfucker at the studio who makes $250 million dollars a year who's one job is supposed to make this shit happen.

If you see a stranger posting a jokey premise, honestly the best thing you can do is reply something that starts with "To be fair." Folks absolutely love it when you pointlessly gainsay a joke, can't get enough of that shit, keep it up

Happy #primeweek! I just want to let y’all know that the Amazon shipping warehouse where my husband works is denying workers fans during a nationally recognized heat emergency and everything you order during time week places workers’ lives at risk.

"There's nothing we can do" is such a lie. There's almost always *something* they can do, they just often choose not to do it.
about once a week, i have to explain to someone on the phone that the police have no obligation to do anything for you and, even if their refusal literally leads to your murder, the courts have been clear that there's no case to pursue

We’ve returned to the olden days, when word-of-mouth was the only real way to advertise. As an author, if you enjoy a book, please: tell your friends. Your group chat, your sewing circle, your family WhatsApp, your work Slack, the voice channel of your MMORPG guild, anything.
Hey, so. I understand that this is anecdotal and not research, but. It is WILD how useless social media has become for promo. It's a fucking disgrace, really.

Bait-and-switch tactics are a surefire way to torpedo morale. Last year, my office got an email asking us what we'd do with $1,000. We thought we were getting a surprise bonus. Nope. We were rolling out a new product -- a credit card -- for which we could earn a commission for selling. (1/)
I once worked in an office with terrible morale. To address this problem, Management announced that we were getting a puppy. The puppy was coming at the end of the month. There was a contest to name the puppy. When the puppy arrived, it was a plushie that you had to go into the boss's office to hug

reminded of a scene from Terry Pratchett's Going Postal
A hill I will die on: all white-collar crimes are violent crimes. It's just that the violence is removed from the perpetrator because the perpetrator is wealthy.

REPUBLICANS: Here's a shitty thing we did. VOTERS: We don't like the shitty thing and will fight to stop it. REPUBLICANS: What shitty thing? What are you talking about? We know nothing about this. (Sets drink on copy of Project 2025) What liars you are.
Stephen Miller now following Trump's lead and saying he has nothing to do with Project 2025. 1. His organization is on the Project 2025 advisory board. 2. He recorded a video as part of Project 2025 training tools 3. You can see Mandate for Leadership, the Project 2025 publication in the background

all the culture you liked from decades past was made possible by cheap rent and artists' pay keeping up with what things cost
It's because we all have day jobs, advances are pennies, publishers don't market, one underperforming book tanks your career, and we're expected to be well-tuned brand machines on social media websites designed to suck our souls dry.

I am a sucker for kitchy retro rayguns.
“Social media best practices” dictate that I shouldn’t post new products in the middle of the night on Friday. But, to hell with it. I do what I want. CHECK OUT MY NEW PINS! We’ll have these at SDCC and Gen Con and they’re on the website now! www.monkeyminionpress.com/search?q=bla...

IMO, for whatever that might be worth, the ruthless monetization of social media platforms is what kneecapped them. When organic reach was replaced by paying for exposure (he said with full awareness of that particular irony for working artists), that was the beginning of the end.

It's so crazy it just...might...work.
What if - and hear me out - from now on, we judge debate performance by the accuracy of the participants statements?

BTW, don't share stuff from Occupy Democrats. They're notorious for stealing content from others and repackaging it as original content for their clickbaity purposes.

In a sane society, an open admission of knowingly holding and passing counterfeit money would result in this fucker's immediate arrest and prosecution.
As a side note, this is John McEntee, Trump's Director of White House Personnel and the primary architect of Project 2025. On Tik Tok he said he gives counterfeit bills to homeless people so they will be arrested when they go to spend them.

I have a LOT of complicated feelings about the Neil Gaiman situation. I'm not going to add to the flood of white noise by trying to analyze it (I think we should *all* cool it there, TBH), and I honestly don't have it in me to try, but I found this comforting, which is something I needed.
This means a lot to me right now and, while the work may be tainted, the effect it had on me at the time can't change. The alchemy it created in my artistic life is mine alone and that can't be taken away. Thank you, Kirstyn. (Via author Kirstyn McDermott on FB)

anyway, bluesky is absolutely not ready and not prepared for the flood of authoritarian-funded trolls that are already beginning to flood it, so, you know, block early, block often.

This is what Trump is pretending he doesn't know about. This is Trump's agenda. The other guy might be old, but you're voting for either the old guy or this white supremacist patriarchal Christian autocracy.

Random early AM thought... The two most prominent long-term straight couples in comics? Heroes. The two most prominent long-term queer couples in comics? Villain/anti-heroes. No analysis here, just an observation. (Art credits in alt text)

The Instagram algorithms continue their spiral into madness. It's the only way I can explain why they're showing me ads for sports betting. I hate sports and gambling individually, I sure as hell have no interest in the hellish intersection of the two.

I watched The New Kingdom last night. The director said he drew inspiration from 80s toy commercials, and man, does it show. And I do not mean that in a good way. I have nothing against cheesy Godzilla movies, I grew up on them, but this felt like the marketing team had too much input.
I was worried Godzilla Minus One would ruin Godzilla x Kong for me, but what really ruined Godzilla x Kong was Godzilla x Kong.

Watching The Beekeeper with dinner, and now I'm wondering about other innocuous sounding careers could Jason Statham assume for future action flicks. The Horticulturalist? The Sous Chef? The Bean Counter?
