Taking the position that authors shouldn’t get paid is just about the best way to get people to support draconian copyright policies.
It’s so wildly counterproductive!
As well-meaning publishers try to navigate the coming storm of state laws against diversity, I hope they'll consider Timothy Snyder's Rule #1 (from his slim book ON TYRANNY).
I dont even disagree that some people do take things a little far, but there's a pattern where it starts as a pretty docile expression of disagreement, that alone gets a ton of cis backlash, then when frustrations mount as a result its practically open season for transphobia
Disheartening to come on here every couple months and once again see that at the very slightest disagreement from a few trans people, many will take that as an excuse to come out of the woodwork and call them abhorrent things as a group
Remembering when I and others just said "hey maybe refrain from making jokes about how laws targeting trans ppl could be hypothetically used against cis ppl" and got "yeah well if you wanna be like that good luck trying to fight for your rights without allies"
I've just stopped trying since lol

I'll never forget the one time I decided to try tinder, was able to select nonbinary as my gender, only to be immediately met with "Which results would you like to be shown in, men or women : )"
Nothing radicalizes you like seeing all your freelancer friends have to pay 30% taxes on their poverty wages. Everyone is out of work, under employed, underpaid if at all. There are no savings and no safety nets. Groceries cost $80 every trip. It feels like I'm bleeding to death.
To be fair I'm going to guess that in this instance since you were calling for medical help they may have wanted to know what level of head injury they might expect
I wish more conversations around art in a post-capitalist world were based around state subsidiaries and co-op studios that we've already seen in practice in history, and not "artists are entitled babies who need to grow up and get a REAL job, but leftistly"
When I try to mix things up and take the asshole option in games I usually wuss out for this reason lol
It's like the pet rock effect, you stick eyes on it and even though you know it's still just a rock, you project some life into it
I like the painting process when I'm making art, sometimes even more than the drawing part tbh, but I also hate feeling like I have to perfectly render everything everytime, I wanna just do flat paints but then my brain screams at me to do more
This is so real and why Fiverr caused some damage, people were getting pages of custom art for like 5-15 USD
I get building up demand, but that's where reproductions or things like YCHs can come in handy
I would think it more productive to address why people are disengaging so much in the first place and prioritize building solidarity than to keep calling them crazy nihilist larpers, bc something tells me that won't exactly inspire much change in action
For Disability Pride Month I’m once again begging for more artists to start considering accessibility and add alt text to your images. It helps low/no vision folks, neurodivergent folks, and more. Plus alt text shows up in searches! There’s a toggle in settings so you won’t forget. 👇
Pride BEGAN during a time of anti-sodomy laws. The first Pride was a riot against those laws. Pride is celebrated around the world in places where it is much more dangerous to be queer than here. Pride is not dependent on being ALLOWED to be who we are, it’s a promise that we WILL be no matter what
