Politico has a weird piece arguing that rural conservative rage is misunderstood by everyone but the author, bc they're not actually 'angry' so much as filled with growing omni-directional resentments. That narrative falls apart when you ask them what they resent. In ruralia we call 'em 'screamers'.

Theravada Buddhism has acknowledged a huge range of sex/gender identities for millennia. Some truly amazing options in the canon. It was only in the ‘30s/40s, in thrall to the West, that Thai politicians tried to binarize gender. The binary was a contempo capitalist thing, a tool for the state.

I think the historical context on this is really important to understand and promote because the reality is that there's no inherent aversion to trans people in our culture, it's one that's been cultivated by explicit right wing propaganda as another way to divide the working class against itself
