I have firmly believed, since the turnout at my precinct caucus here in small-town Iowa in '16, that full-throated, unapologetic progressive politics would do far better in places like this than the timid centrist crap we've had rammed down our throats for years.

It's sure as hell worth a shot.

So many lessons from 2016. There's absolutely no compromise with centrists. They will always side with the right in the end.

I've slowly been developing the notion that a centrist will just pick the one who sounds the most civil which conservatives know how to use to their advantage

Good, we really need to utilize primaries more and stop being so enamored with incumbent status. Lawmakers will not change their views or votes unless the threat of a primary is on the back of their minds.
