The only person I can remember seeing this on who wasn't a hippie or monster (maybe a few random characters on Star Trek TOS, as well) is Steve Ditko's original design for Squirrel Girl.

I think an Ice Pirates reboot after 40 years would somehow be more topical than ever. There's a ton of good ideas to work with here even if the original execution was a bit too early 80s. Maybe you could get Anjelica Huston to come back.
Way back in the day, there was a What If? that had Peter Parker stopping the burglar (because it was good publicity for his TV show) and he ended up becoming the worst show business asshole ever.
