these are all actual headlines from the washington post.
you can literally track the rightwing ideological shift over time towards supporting billionaires & transphobia.
Next up in the opinions section of the Washington Post:
'Filthy rich opportunists are not lying to you - they are actually VERY trustworthy *pinky swear*'
Hi there. As the person who wrote the bottom-right column in your screenshot (and, also, btw, chose the headline) I’m super-curious if you read anything beyond the headline. Here’s a link to the actual article. www.washingtonpost.com/posteverythi...
oh hi Washington Post contributor Daniel Drezner, welcome to my comments! how do you feel these days about cheerleading for the illegal 2003 invasion & occupation of Iraq, including the deaths of over 300,000 Iraqi civilians?
also, what are your opinions on trans rights & protecting trans kids?
I think you're deflecting from my original question of whether you actually read what I wrote in 2016. But for the record, I have stated repeatedly and on the record that I was wrong about Iraq.
P.S.: I stopped being a contributor to WaPo back in 2022.
that’s great you’ve publicly apologized for supporting the illegal invasion & occupation of Iraq, Daniel. thank you for clarifying.
what is your opinion on trans rights & protecting trans kids? this is an important topic for me when deciding whether to humor someone’s other politcal opinions.
Those are easy things to say. JK Rowling has said them, in fact.
Drag queen story hour?
Children's books on queer characters?
Trans kids getting puberty blockers?
Trans kids in women's sports or restrooms?
Trans adults in women's sports or restrooms?
Trans women in women's prisons?
Prison abolition?
I don’t know, Daniel, if I wrote that column and WaPo slapped that garbage headline on it, I’d be way more mad and vocal about that than coming at Sage for pointing out their editorial bias 🤷🏻♂️
The thing is, Scott, WaPo didn't slap that headline on it -- I did. It's my responsibility. Which is important given Sage's claims about editorial bias.
Ahh, the Iraq war, and investment in oil and the weapons industry camouflaged as a fight for democracy based on lies
Which has been verified, but is treated as an uncomfortable fact
Also one of the main reasons the US opted out of certain agreements
And at the same time a BIG reason for governments and billionaires to crack down on the web
Propaganda is less effective when there are multidutes of lines of comm & info
jesus christ “This is the perfect moment for realists to intervene in the marketplace of ideas and publicly endorse Trump” is such a clownshoes level of political analysis. astounding that he currently teaches international politics.
they all do though! we're still stuck in this crap with the same people who sold every horrible thing to the public the past few decades, it's maddening
When the headline is the only thing readable without subscribing to a pretty godawful paper, maybe pick a headline that you think accurately represents your view rather than trying to be a dollar store Oscar Wilde.
I am blocking a lot of folks here I probably wouldn't have blocked on Twitter, just because they seem to be trying to replicate the pointless slap-fights.
