can we have a cat president? If we can have dog mayors surely we can have a cat president

It feels like journalistic gaslighting at this point
I have no idea the best path re Biden but I do know a solid week straight of “Biden Old” and “Rich Dems Worried” above-the-fold stories are *obscene* in the face of SCOTUS using the Constitution to wipe their asses purely in the service of reinstating a felon rapist as president. Crazy-making shit.

"Did you read the latest from the Ant Press? It's a 900 page epic about three ants doing whatever it takes to become queen of the colony and each queen has like, 15 children with their own subplot, oh, and there's a whole storyline about a worker revolt, it's amazing. HBO already optioned it."
When we learned to speak with bugs, we discovered they're very fond of the Arts. Ants write endlessly dense novels of political intrigue, cicadas are pioneers of heavy metal, and dung beetles are obsessed with sculpture. Whose art most fascinates you? #TinyTalesTuesday #WritingPrompt

March 23 1933, the Enabling Act becomes law in Germany, giving the chief executive power enforce his own laws without checks and balances. The passing of the Act marked the formal transition from democratic republic to totalitarian dictatorship. 6 months later, it was a 1 party state.

What's your favorite black and white movie. (Great movie, pairs well with pure grain alcohol and rain water).
What’s your favorite black and white movie? I feel like this is such a “kid who took one film elective in college” answer, but…

I'mma say this for all the people in the back. Don't vote for a person. Vote for your rights, for the rights of others. On page 5 of Project 2025's 180-day plan they openly call for outlawing porn, recommending imprisoning anyone who creates it. Are you an NSFW artist, or like the art? THIS IS YOU.

Don't mind me waiting for the NYT to call for the literal convicted felon to leave the race.

Doesn't surprise me that that is what the services are like in Grant's Pass.
A homeless shelter wrote an amicus brief in the Grant’s Pass case. They argued SCOTUS should let the city arrest the homeless because, and I am not shitting you, the ban on doing so meant less people were willing to abide by their “two church services a day and no sex” requirement to sleep inside.

Reminder for a rough day: bad news gets re-shared 100x as much as good news, creating the morale-eating doomscroll illusion in which it seems like all news is bad, while real victories don’t get reported. We need to see victories to remind us the fight is worth-it. Don’t forget to #ShareGoodNewsToo

Because Trump’s Supreme Court Justices overturned Roe, yet another state has almost totally banned abortion www.iowaabortionaccessfund.org/product/dona...
Iowa is set to become the latest state to tightly restrict access to abortion after the state's supreme court upheld a law banning abortions at six weeks of pregnancy.

Someone please give me a reason to be hopeful about the political climate in the US today. Please. I need it.

Don't mind me, just going to be thinking of all the things I love about America, like our National Parks (which SCOTUS will probably open up for drilling - no, good things, think good!), uh, our boundless creativity (for thinking of ways to destroy democracy) - Fuck it, I'll just watch cat videos.

If SCOTUS doesn't make you angry enough to overlook Biden's faults I don't know what to tell you.
Breaking news: Federal prosecutors improperly charged hundreds of Jan. 6 defendants with obstruction, the Supreme Court ruled on Friday, upending many cases against rioters who disrupted the certification of the 2020 presidential election.

If you’re mad about the Supreme Court rulings today (and you really, really should be) remember that there’s a 100% chance Alito and Thomas will retire in the next four years if Trump wins, and they will be replaced by conservatives several decades younger.

:dons librarian hat: Digital preservation is more expensive than preserving paper; it takes more staff, active attention, and consistent computing resources. Libraries have discussed “digital dark age” since the 1990s. Corp archives often 1st to go b/c suits haven’t figured out how to profit.
One of the interesting things about the Internet is that we’re actually living through a dark age. Future historians are unlikely to have records of this period. Paper and ink last. Digital storage, less so. variety.com/2024/tv/news...

When I made it to the front of the line, I didn't get a chance to order - the Ice Wizard just shoved a popsicle into my free hand & snatched the bill from the other. It was too hot out to care. The cool relief of the popsicle was enough to ignore the combination of lemon, cinnamon & ghost pepper.
It's his first time setting up shop, but as the heat builds, the line-up for the Ice Wizard's Pop-Up Popsicle Stand grows longer. Infinite flavour options, but as the young mage grows more frazzled, mistakes happen. What frozen concoction do you end up with? #TinyTalesTuesday #WritingPrompt
