There's a world on the other side of this with a huge, vibrant, unionized and high-paying industrial base remaking the physical world for the post-fossil fuel age. It's already starting and I think even Trump can't *fully* destroy it, but he can slow it down and make us lag wayyy behind.

As Swarthmore prof Timothy Burke pointed out, a big thing that distinguished leaders in Zimbabwe vs. other sub-Saharan African countries was that the former couldn't be shamed.

Since I've gotten some people saying that shaming kids for shitty behavior is immoral, all I'm going to say is: if you refuse to ever shame anyone you end up with a society that tolerates shameful behavior. A lot of people actually *need* to be shamed. I've needed to be shamed sometimes!

At least a generation of people defending rich scumbags saying "But the principle I'm upholding will help countless more of the less-advantaged!" and somehow it only seems to be a one-way ratchet. (For example, Dershowitz on his work for von Bulow)

Holy. Shit. They're literally saying Trump's felonies aren't that bad compared to the "real felonies". Bear in mind, they're ignoring J6 and "gimme 12000 votes" call and the stolen docs. We joke, but this is literally Newsmax copy.

You know, the guy made very public comments about underage girls on the Howard Stern show. Teenage pageant contestants complained about him coming into their dressing room. He's made unhinged comments in public about his own daughter. Frankly, there's plenty in plain view.
