Reminder: whatever you think of teenagers' use of social media (and the reality is a lot different than most people believe), it is impossible for a site to treat teenagers differently than adults without deanonymizing and identifying every single visitor to the site, including adults

DMs on Bluesky will not be "end-to-end encrypted" until we are able to do some more protocol work. We have very careful access controls within our systems. If you're extremely privacy conscious, I'd recommend using Bluesky DMs to share your Signal accounts!

Threat models matter. When a platform/service/app tells you they are “private” or “secure” always ask “from whom?” Criminals, domestic abusers, law enforcement, data brokers, and intelligence agencies are all different attackers with very different capabilities.
