Vote. Also knock on doors, volunteer for campaingns. Get involved locally. Go to meetings, work with others, make your own community safer, better, more organized. Know what's on school board agendas. Show up and comment. Give politicians a reason to know what you want, and why they should care.

/7 Justice Roberts smug and superior dismissal of the dissents’ concerns seems to come to us via time warp from some time that never knew Trump. The danger of lawlessness he poses are manifest — he and his followers brag of them. Only a liar or fool would dismiss them.

My friend and colleague Ken White has written a great thread describing some (but far from all) of the enormous problems with today's decision by Chief Justice Roberts granting Donald Trump criminal immunity on grounds never before accepted by any court. Today's decision threatens the Republic.
There are two elements to the immunity decision that are particularly extreme in a way that many will miss: (1) motive is irrelevant and (2) immune acts are not just excluded from prosecution, they’re excluded from evidence. /1

The 14th Amendment says if you were involved in an insurrection you can't be president. SCOTUS said they won't allow anyone to enforce that because of reasons they made up. The Constitution doesn't say the president is immune from criminal law. SCOTUS decided he is because of reasons they made up.

Roberts rules for Trump. Absolute immunity for “official acts.” Vacated and remanded. Party line case. Both Sotomayor and Jackson dissent. Fuck this. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/23p...

To reiterate what @kenwhite.bsky.social has been saying for a long time... the courts are not going to get us out of this mess. We have to do it at the ballot box.

Hurricane Beryl went from a tropical depression to a Category 3 storm in just over 40 hours. It’s now Cat 4 with six to NINE feet of water above typical tide expected. My heart is with St. Lucia, Martinique, St. Vincent, the Grenadines & Grenada as the winds are rising. www.axios.com/2024/06/30/h...

8/8 In my opinion, the return of Donald Trump to the White House would threaten the survival of the Republic. I believe that it would literally threaten the physical safety of millions of Americans, including me. Now is the time for Solidarity!

We're living in the era of the Imperial Supreme Court. One of the reasons I am so strongly in favor of radically expanding the judiciary - and will remain in favor of radical expansion even if both Alito and Thomas are replaced by liberals - is that it will dilute the impact of individual judges.
Roberts, overruling Chevron with incredible and unearned hubris: "Perhaps most fundamentally, Chevron’s presumption is misguided because agencies have no special competence in resolving statutory ambiguities. Courts do."

At a Turning Point Action conference in Detroit, 8,000 people packed into a convention hall to hear from Donald Trump. But first, there was a word from a sponsor: Alexander Spellane, a precious metals salesman being sued by federal regulators for fraud. nyti.ms/3XyWu49

I'm just going to put this as bluntly as I can: I have a broad understanding of how DALL-E works. But I am also a copyright lawyer. Regardless of the precise details of how the tech works, I could make a *damn good argument* that the model contains a *legal* copy of that enterprise insignia.
OK. So... I'm testing and familiarizing myself with many of the the major AI tools, for professional reasons. I asked ChatGPT 3.5 to tell me about the Axanar case (which it did OK). Since ChatGPT is plugged into DALL-E, I then gave it the prompt below, and got the result you see. And...ummm.
