From the JD Vance (Senate) campaign website. JD Vance would ban every single woman (or girl) from receiving an abortion, no matter the circumstances by which she was impregnated or the danger to her health. Maybe (just maybe) if she risks imminent death.

I am simultaneously freaked out and made hopeful by the Vance pick. He’s a reptilian-eyed dough faced sociopath and fascist, which means in office he’d be extremely dangerous. but…

This is a really good point. The president can’t really say, for instance, “Trump appointed Alex Acosta, the guy who got a sweetheart plea deal for Epstein (who trafficked the young girls Trump is accused of raping), to be his labor secretary” in a speech, but it’s true and we should say it.
We have to say this because Biden/Harris can't. They can't say "the guy who just got shot was closely connected to a pedophile ring", that's not appropriate from the president (we've decided). But we can say "Donald Trump promoted the DA who let Epstein off the hook", and we should

This by itself is disqualifying. Please take note of every pundit/news station/show that interviews him and does not grill him about this.
Oh, I totally forgot: Vance also blurbed Jack Posobiec’s “Unhumans” book, the one that casts leftists as agents of “unhumanity.” Unity, folks! 🙃

Remember, if the government can obtain a conviction against Bob Menendez for taking bribes and stuffing gold bars into his closet that he was given for working on behalf of a foreign government, there's nothing stopping them from indicting you for the same thing.

Psst: Project 2025 is terrifying for a lot of reasons but also because on page 5 it calls for teachers and librarians who grant access to books that are maligned as pornography (which just means anything LGBTQ) to be registered as sex offenders. Pass it on.

One of the most vile lesser-discussed evils of our Healthcare system is how insurance has financial partnerships with certain pharmacies and you can't get meds at pharmacies outside of those partnerships.

Just reminded of the conclusions of the Mueller report: 1. Too much evidence has been destroyed for us to tell if the Trump campaign collided with the Russians. 2. The Trump campaign did all the destroying, and if we could legally indict a sitting president, we 100% would. It wasn't complex.

from now until Election Day, we connect every story back to Project 2025 Eg: The FBI is currently investigating the Trump shooter. But did you know that Project 2025 will place the FBI under Trump’s direct control, so he can decide which acts of political violence get investigated, and which don’t?

Wear a mask. Even if you just start popping one on at the store, on the metro, in meetings at work, at your job when someone else is in a mask. Any additional masking slows the spread and makes it more possible for people like me to be in public places. You don't have to be perfect, every bit helps.

"liberal" transphobia is dangerous because it creates a political consensus. no, it's not going to move a lot of median voters, but it creates a space for bipartisan anti-trans policies. i watched this happen in the uk.
it’s wild how much of the left’s anger on this site is devoted to the NYT. media criticism is good and healthy but anyone who really thinks a newspaper that’s read mostly by coastal elites is the main obstacle to progressive policy goals in america in the year 2024 is living in a bubble

I keep forgetting how big the mostly unsettled US west is, so I was thinking the 110 mph links from Minneapolis to Seattle/Portland would be enough, but that's 1600 miles. Worth upgrading to connect America's coolest cities in less than a day.
