Mayor Scott responds with precision to the gutter racism infesting the American right, in a way that directly exposes the feeble minded cowardice of the euphemisms they’ve employed to hide something everyone can see www.thebaltimorebanner.com/politics-pow...
I don’t think they were more subtle at all. People knew exactly what they were talking about. The abstraction is for plausible deniability, not subtlety.
i dunno, i feel like substituting "Black" for "DEI" doesn't really obfuscate much; it's not like talking about "urban" things. atwater would probably give it like a C
That’s why it’s further down the Leeward spiral; it’s even further removed from the traditional “concerns” people have about black people, but no less coded and potent.
So far my read on him as a non-resident of Baltimore is as an honest man trying his best to address the extremely intractable problems of governing a deindustrialized city in 21st Century America.
maga using DEI the same way they've used urban or inner city--to mean black people, even if those people have never been near a city (or part of a DEI program)
Reminds me of Starbucks announcing their first “urban” location several years back.
(Starbucks’ first actual location is rather famously in the middle of downtown Seattle at Pike Place Market)
I’m just some Canadian, but I’m assuming he got into office by GETTING THE MOST VOTES, right? Do they think the will of the people is woke? Oh wait, of course they do. They’re fascist racists who want to kill democracy.
I read that he won the mayoral election with 70% of the vote. Of course, Baltimore is heavily Democratic, so the Dem primary was likely the more important race; no idea how well he did there.
Ah, "Didn't Earn It." First time I've hear that it put that way. Now it makes much more sense (and yes, the idea that a democratically-elected mayor "didn't earn it" is about as stupid as thinking that Donald Trump earned the presidency because he was rich).
I like how there's several phrases in the article that could be abbreviated to DEI like "duly elected incumbent" and it doesn't do anything to draw your attention to them, they're just there, and you can tell it's deliberate. It's very clever writing.
Absolutely, “DEI” to these racist pieces of shit means “n***er who’s job should go to a white guy instead.”
That the media still treats Republicans like something other than rabid racists tells us how fucking racist they are, also.
The destruction of American democracy has been a goal by those goat blowing scumbags for 100 years. They will do what ever they can, especially prey on the weak minded.
You're the one proving quite publicly that you haven't done an iota of reading on American history. If you don't like embarrassing yourself in public, maybe stop typing in public.
