Jane Austen movies work because she essentially wrote screen plays. There are so many subtle directions for how people walk and talk and gesture.

I think I started the 2007 movie back then and just COULD NOT. But I was thinking of taking another crack at it. (I'm re-reading Austen rather than deal with *waves hands* all of this)

Jane Austen knows every type of toxic masculinity that exists, and she's so good at writing them. In Mansfield Park alone you've got the classic Nice Guy who gets Friendzoned, the Master Manipulator, and a guy who negs.

I'm re-reading Mansfield Park and OMG it's basically the plot to Risky Business. Seriously, it's so modern, it's "teen siblings throw a party while parents are away on business and things get out if hand" You can just HEAR them wanting to scream STFU at Mr Yates as he spills the beans to the dad.

Whether Biden drops out or continues, I expect a primary target of foreign info operations this year to be the legitimacy of the Democratic candidate and the legimitacy of the courts in relation to the the GOP candidate. Expect them to target audiences on both sides and exploit organic criticism.

Thread of reason

There's a fundamental disconnect between people who watched the debate and saw it as viscerally disqualifying and people who saw a gifted politician having a very bad night. The two camps are going to have a very hard time reaching agreement on anything else about the race.

Sitting at my desk working and hear a big splash in the pool and I know who it is! I hope he wasn't too freaked out by all of the fireworks last night, poor big buddy.

I only started sleeping well again once Biden was inaugurated, so it's only fair he gets a little of that benefit as well!

my hot take is that the president should be and live like a normal human, and so I reject the premise that the president must work 130 hour weeks and never be well-rested. he has dozens of staffers who can cover shifts!
