I strongly disagree that this is a “bus shoving”. This is an “I don’t want to answer questions about it. I want to be seen as my own man. I want to maintain structural ambiguity.”
The ramped-up hits on Project 2025 must be landing — Trump just shoved it right in front of the bus

I just. It’s. Such a perfect metaphor. Rising waters from climate change threatens LA coastline and $21bn natural gas plant. Wealthy corporate hubristic response is to spend insane amount of money to protect itself alone. www.washingtonpost.com/climate-envi...
A rising fortress in sinking landwww.washingtonpost.com Rising seas and steel walls test the strength of a Louisiana coastal gas development, raising questions about flooding, climate change and community impacts.

Yeah. I can see that. What’s the weather going to be like though?

To quote Prof Musgrave. What is your theory of change here?

We are in a democratic death match. Where 5% of people who never pay attention to politics will decide the outcome and 10-15% support a guy who says things like “it’s hard to tell which conspiracy theory is right”. I’m not sure we’re doing this right.
The President of the Untied States should take sides on 9/11. Foreign terrorists killing nearly 3,000 Americans is one of those things an American leader should take sides on.

Sorry. I am not a legal expert or anything other than a citizen. But this is a profoundly embarrassingly idiotic argument for anyone who pretends to be a professional intellectual to make. This is deeply deeply deeply bullshit. (From Braude OpEd in NYt)

With no knock to Quinta. And obviously I’m just a lawless citizen here. But I don’t accept that whitewashing Roberts by pretending not to see what he’s up to gives us any understanding or insight.

We've been pressed into using GPT and imitaters more at work, and as a senior writer asked to review a lot of this work, I 100% resent being asked to edit its garbage output. It's not only generic, it's chockful of filler words and plagued by superfluous use of adverbs and prepositional phrases.

I get that the power of this Op-Ed is that it’s an Originalist calling out his own side. But as a layperson, not a lawyer, just some dumb citizen, I could not stomach a lot of what was being put down here. www.nytimes.com/2024/07/05/o...

some key norms that must be broken that still hold sway among many in the media, the senior ranks of the Democratic Party, and some of its voting base and the general public, namely that the Republican Party values democracy and that the judiciary is mostly nonpartisan, and you can't say otherwise

What the decision *does* say is that the person who holds the office of the presidency is effectively not subject to the law for the exercise of the powers of office, no matter how or why he chooses to exercise them (and we actually can’t even ask).

Extremely frustrating to hear legal experts analyzing the SCOTUS ruling on immunity like just another case - it's an inherently normalizing act. People need to stop playing constitutional Calvinball and treat them like political actors.

There is so much I don’t understand about pop culture. Yes I’m watching 5m of the local July 4th celebration with someone named Kesha.

Wow. This is going to have such a stifling effect on all future Brazilian presidents. I’m worried the vigor and energy of their presidencies is going to take a major hit.

Invoking my right as an American to indulge in some run cocktails. Through the immunity vested in me by the Supreme Court of these United States, I now declare it cocktail o’clock and happy 4th.

As someone whose day job involves combating stigma around disability The Economist cover is just the most disheartening thing to see. I'm so mad about it. It's the opposite of what I fight for every day.

New SCOTUS ruling just dropped! SCOTUS just granted this household absolute immunity to leave dishes in the sink over night to soak.
