“The world may never know.” I’m firmly a millennial and can recite that entire commercial start to finish and I haven’t seen it in years. It was a staple of my childhood. Interestingly, groups at FSU and NYU conducted research in 2015 and determined it’s 997 licks.
I got the Tootsie Pop commercial joke, but I was confused about what type of owl it was because milennials are all very interested in birds now. We are in our birds era.
Is it a great grey owl?
No, just everyone who isn't American. I read the comments to find out about the advertisement, never seen or heard of it before. Presumably a type of lollypop.
I just thought it was a rubbish photography mistake.
Trying to imagine the sequence of events which led to this picture. Do you keep tootsie pops in your pocket at all times for just occasion? Did you go hunting for an owl for this express purpose? Or is it completely random and you just really love lollipops?
I want to know if I should also be prepared in case I run into a famous mascot. Like, should I carry around Trix cereal in my pocket on the off chance I see a rabbit so I can be like, ‘Silly rabbit! Trix are for kids!’
They already figured it out, using an automatic licking machine with built in fluid dispensers to simulate saliva.
Many women have asked about where they can get one.
I have a dark blue shirt with the owl holding a lollipop that says "how many licks does it take?" Right now in my closet back from right after I graduated highschool in 2002 lol maybe I got it at hot topic? Lol
