A widely predicted victory for the far right in France has instead turned into a victory for the left *because people turned out in record numbers to vote.*
Defeat is not inevitable and more progressive elected officials means more progressive policies.
I keep seeing this BULLSHIT going around so:
- they are totally harmless to humans
- they're gonna eat spotted lanternflies (which is a good thing)!
- Many, many species of spiders "fly". Young spiderlings throw their threads up into the air and catch a ride on the wind it's called ballooning.
How appalling it is that after all these loud years of Hollywood and tech companies screaming about piracy they're willing to use your voice, your work, your entire *life*, and tell you you're standing in their way.

Most traditional american jobs just don’t exist anymore. No longer can I build a giant object in my yard and charge people to see it. I am not allowed to descend a waterfall in a barrel for a hefty fee. My wagon full of questionable handmade potions has been sanctioned and seized by law enforcement.
Dad: Possessor, provider, active. Mom: Passive, dwarfed by spouse and kids, somehow going to make all their meals appear out of thin air while smiling. Family: Alone, self-sufficient.
This is not at all how humans evolved.

Somehow it never occurred to me that a major campaign issue for one of the national parties of the United States in 2024 would be general opposition to a triumph of modern medicine that saves something like 4 million lives worldwide every year and dramatically reduces childhood mortality.
