I mentioned this in the immediate aftermath of the first debate. Why should I trust that the Democratic elites who chose Biden will do a better job choosing his replacement?
Even if President Biden steps down, Democratic Party elites will still have far too much influence over his successor.

Some things that are socially awkward are not morally bad. The appropriate and natural reaction to this category of things is irritation, not condemnation. There’s something weird where ppl don’t feel entitled to their annoyance and have to upgrade it to righteousness.

I went into Army basic training on a "Ranger contract." You're joining the infantry with a promise that they'll let you try out for the Rangers. No guarantees; just a try out. So few of the chest-pounding, pseudo-hardasses with Ranger contracts and American flag tattoos actually made it in with me.
Not all Marines but definitely some Marines end up assigned to non-combat jobs and then spend the rest of their lives with a huge chip on their shoulder about how tough they are and I'm just saying it tracks that JD Vance was a photographer

I’m sorry a Republican voter shot at the Republican leader at a Republican rally, and especially that he killed a Republican rally-goer and injured two more. I wish it didn’t happen, and hope nothing like it ever happens again. I just don’t see how non-Republicans could be the ones to solve it.

The Tea Party's greatest achievement was to make Democrats afraid of getting aggressive in primaries for fear of comparison.

Can't decide which explains more: 0% interest for 10 years, and the reasons for it; or the end of 0% interest for 2 years, and the reasons for it.

Did you know there are bugs living on your face 24/7?! Try looking at your face under a microscope sometime! Anyway, we've been moving out of our apartment and I tried locking my boyfriend in a storage unit but he made his way back like cats do. I found out our storage unit doesn't have a ceiling.

If an RPG designer cannot publish a scenario that enables others to produce the designed game experience, they have no business including a GMing section in their rulebook.

I slid off of this swaybacked nag of a novel by Len Deighton and into the saddle of this account of daredevil wreck divers by Robert Kurson that races along the surf line, whipping spray and wind into my beaming face.

I have no reason to believe that the people who maneuvered Biden to the 2020 nomination are going to do any better choosing a replacement to maneuver into the 2024 nomination.

The electoral problem has become, as the IRA gloated to Thatcher, that the GOP only needs to get lucky once and the Democrats need to be lucky forever. Either they’re going to do something about the court - now, not eventually - or we will simply play iterations of this game until the GOP wins.
I want everyone to think about what Trump will do with explicit absolute immunity from prosecution and the full power of the presidency of the United States of America those are the stakes in November, full stop

Correct. A prudent, law-abiding President who appoints qualified agency personnel to enact thoughtful regulations is going to see their agenda inevitably fail. A malicious, arbitrary President who runs around barking illegal commands at people will be rewarded.
So based on decisions from just this week, the President, as long has he has the gloss of officialdom, can basically do anything without legal restraint, whereas the President, acting via duly appointed agencies authorized by Congress, is more restrained than ever? What a coherent jurisprudence!

If you remove regulation, a lot of decisions still have to be made, so something has to replace it. What replaces it is corruption.

The absolutely wild thing is: This goes for ALL social aid. Just *giving people some fucking money,* literally going "OK, how much did you need?", cutting checks, and waving them out the door? COSTS LESS and HAS BETTER OUTCOMES than the current system's bureaucracy and means testing, EVERY TIME.
With alt-text because THIS IS LITERALLY EVERYONE’S EXPERIENCE & I FUCKING HATE IT. Being disabled is a godsdamn full time job battling different agencies all damn day. #NEISvoid
