My understanding is that in American politics, Republicans are never responsible for anything that Republicans do bad, and only Democrats are responsible for bad things.

Slight correction: Democrats are responsible for *failing to stop Republicans* from doing bad things.

I think it's a bit early to assert that he's a Republican. PA has closed primaries so it's not improbable that he registered as a Republican so he could vote in the primary against Trumpist candidates like Dr. Oz.

I'm sure more details will come out soon about his motivation soon so there is no need to speculate. Using "He's a registered Republican" at this point isn't too different from those who claimed the Paul Pelosi attacker was a liberal because his house had a BLM sign years ago.
