He's caught in a still photo from the scene that I saw yesterday, visible in the background between the protester and the person she's speaking to. From The Daily Mississippian's coverage, photo credits to Maria Ramirez and Antonella Rescigno. thedmonline.com/may-2nd-pro-...
Oh yeah, absolutely.
The counter-protestors didn't say anything about Israel. I saw one pro-Israel t-shirt. They didn't say much about Gaza or Palestine.
Their only political messages were "We want Trump", "Fuck Joe Biden", and "USA". The rest of the message was all just "We hate the protestors."
I'm kind of wondering if and who other than the counter "protests" is funding these efforts. Given that campus disorder is thought to benefit Republicans, I am going, "Hmmmmmm."
Tom, the protests were held a block off of Frat Row.
My best guess: these were bored frat boys who went out for a round of hippie punching. There were absolutely no signs of organization at all from the counter-protestors.
These are the mediocre white males "anxious" about their unjust, ill-gotten, yet traditional hegemony ebbing away toward people superior to them in just about every measurable way. Well, these are their children, still in the ivory tower, jeering like so many yapping dogs behind a protective fence.
Now remember cancel culture is bad, when we look at this picture our first concern should be about whether our reaction will deter other bros from making monkey noises at black people
They really should blur that young man’s face. It would be unfair if just one poor decision could make him lose his summer internship at McKinsey so he ends up working at one of his father’s 6 automobile dealerships, and publishing photographic evidence of his actions seems so unnecessarily punitive
I think we should celebrate these people's self-expression, we should make every effort to ensure that they are individually and persistently credited for their contribution to this public debate, we should ensure them recognition for their ideas wherever they go, throughout their later careers.
These are just kids whose whole lives are in front of them and shouldn't be judged on a single moment.
Also, the protestors should be kicked out of school, rounded up with force by the state, be named, and potential employers should be given a heads up about their violent tendencies.
