Cosigned, and I think a lot of people pull their hair out at maddening polling/focus group anecdotes like some rando from Iowa saying "well abortion got repealed under Biden" or whatever but most people are not actually that dumb

My opinion is that the election is going to be closer than it ought to be but that more people don’t like Trump than do and that the end of Roe is going to get a lot of women who were otherwise ambivalent to the polls. And it’s going to be a very long and unpleasant summer and fall before then.

Someday McDonald’s is going to put Lorcana cards in happy meals and there will be no escaping the violence that ensues

I finally decided to start The Boys. I'm only on the second episode and this show is... not subtle. How did anyone watch any amount of this show and come away thinking Homelander is a hero.

Just started watching Star Wars Rebels S3 and I can't be the only one who sees this right

Most of the fights in the Star Wars prequels and sequels look like dance steps with glowy-stick flourishes. Which they are, of course, but there's no sense of characters *reacting* to each other. The fight scene in The Acolyte E5 looks like a baddie trying to kill and the goodies trying to survive.

I know the More Civilized Age podcast isn't doing a week-by-week breakdown for The Acolyte like they did for Andor but after the latest episode I sure hope we get another special episode about the back half of the season.

I'm not someone who tends to stress over spoilers but damn people the new Acolyte has been out for like 20 hours and I feel like I already know everything

I had a Star Wars: The Acolyte theory that was just vindicated by the latest episode drop, so permit me a moment of explaining. The first two episode titles had a diptych pattern: Lost / Found and Revenge / Justice.

I want to dig into this, since my book VERY FINE PEOPLE comes out today, and it's in large part about precisely this sort of polemic trickery in service of bullshit apologia of supremacy. There's a sleight of hand at the start that catapults us into a massive lie.

It's so strange that the entire Dragon Age series is on Steam but none of it works on Steam Deck. There's a sale on and I'd like to revisit those games on Deck but all of them are unsupported and the community notes I can find agree they're broken, don't support controllers, etc. The heck?
