You know who I am.
And if not, you probably want to keep it that way.

If you ever want to understand why the privacy rationale for abortion and contraception is more important and vital than ever, this is it.
JD Vance opposes the Biden Admin rule barring law enforcement from having access to your medical records about reproductive health (menstrual cycles, endometriosis, miscarriages, pregnancy, etc.) so that state laws limiting abortion and/or contraception can be enforced against you!

I'm not going to lie to you, one of the main reasons we got the church is that when I looked up in the balcony, I said to myself "that would be a really cool place for a library." And so it is.

And I also remind you that BOOKSHOP DOT ORG is still doing free shipping until tonight, and that supports indie stores, as well. So go on, get after it. Books are cool. Books are your friend. Books make you A BETTER HUMAN and contain CURSES and HEXES against your many foes. Probably. Whatever.

Fortunately, the Supreme Court just ruled on a workaround for this!
At the risk of being precisely who everyone expects me to be, I don’t think you can put term limits on justices without a constitutional amendment, and I’m 100% confident at least five current justices think you can’t.

With four days remaining before voting is closed, a final plea: please vote for the October Daye books for Best Series. The beautiful irony of a series that began because I couldn't figure out how else to make a living off a folklore degree and a thesis about "Tam Lin" would be glorious.

I remember when we had real trolls. Ones who actually worked for it, not just crowing “You’re mad, I win!” over exchanges that wouldn’t offend an elderly maiden aunt. ‘Course it was uphill both ways to the internet back then.

This is a BFD and reflects both a recognition of deep structural reforms and a tectonic shift in the politics of the Supreme Court. It isn't everything we need but it's a big, big deal. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

those are shattering, republican-ending majorites. there's a 2/3 chance of someone who spends a healthy amount of time thinking about politics ([i_wish_that_was_me.jpg]) voting wholesale against the GOP simply by letting them know, "these candidates are pro-choice"

this is why I go insane when people share that 538 piece saying the 2022 polls were really good. no they weren't! shut up! don't gaslight me, I was fucking there! _EVERYONE_ thought it was a red wave except a few of us who looked at special election results vs. their polls and said "uhhhhh no".
I would add as a little coda that this tactic was hilariously ineffective back in 2022 Nobody could talk about anything but the "red wave" all year but it just wasn't so

Psst: Project 2025 is terrifying for a lot of reasons but also because on page 5 it calls for teachers and librarians who grant access to books that are maligned as pornography (which just means anything LGBTQ) to be registered as sex offenders. Pass it on.
