Going public with an experience like this is life-altering for a woman, so when you read these stories remember both the extraordinary amount of courage involved and also the likelihood that there are many others you’ll never hear.

since yet *another* garbage conglomerate killed a bunch of work from journalists -- a reminder that authory is a great (though not free) option to back up your work
i used authory for this, the only reason any of my pre-2020 work from SYFY still exists bc they nuked *everything* back your stuff up!!!

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖

John Oliver did a deep dive on Project 2025 tonight that should be required viewing. Frightening shit. Hasn't been posted on their YT channel yet, but it's a must watch. Great reporting.

Thank you! This definitely sounds like it matches my interests in reading. Looking more closely at the book images above in the thread, I realized one of your other works Lady Castle is also on my TBR.

Not gonna lie: That is a tough list to follow! I guess I would lean into The Violence, because it follows three generations of women as they escape the cycle of domestic abuse during a plague of animalistic violence. It's got feminism, brutality, empowerment, and catharsis.

Hi! So if you ever want to try my books but aren't sure where to start-- my backlist is over 2 dozen and counting-- feel free to ask me here! Tell me your favorite books, and I'll tell you what you might like that I've written. There really is something for everyone. Here's an out-of-date visual:
If you want to start reading X-Men comics, I suggest reading some of Chris Claremont’s work first. He’s wordy, and creators at the time couldn’t know their work would become famous and collected later. So there are caption boxes that introduce characters and scenes, even if established.
ok i have another quote tweet prompt. what's something, big or small, related to your job or hobby, that most people don't know that you would like to have them know? it can be a concept, a piece of history, some vocabulary, or something else.
If your library doesn’t have a book you’re looking for, check if you can request it through Interlibrary Loan. My library has been great with finding various books. For some requests (especially for a recent release from a mainstream publisher) they just get the book for their own collection.

Most authors—exempting the biggest name, rarest ones who make millions—who appear to be living economically prosperous lives while languishing in the midlist or low end of the list have either a lucrative day job or a partner or spouse with a lucrative day job.

I know $ is tight right now, but there are free ways to help! Requesting THE HUNGER AND THE DUSK from your library does wonders. Reskeeting/tweeting is great. If you read+enjoy the book, a review on your blog, Goodreads, Amazon etc helps a ton.

Book 1 of THE HUNGER AND THE DUSK is out this week, and I'd love your help getting the word out. This is my pandemic baby, born in a hellish summer of simultaneous lockdowns and wildfires, set in a world in a similar state of ecological collapse. It's got all your fave high fantasy tropes w a twist.

I feel like X-Men fans know this intimately, or should.
Why do people complain about “filler” episodes! If the show is good you want to hang out with the characters and see more of the world!

DO NOT TAKE PICTURES OF OTHER PEOPLE AT PRIDE WITHOUT CONSENT. DO NOT POST PICTURES OF OTHER PEOPLE AT PRIDE ONLINE WITHOUT CONSENT. I don't care how hot they are, how cool their costume is, or if they're posing for someone else's picture. You could easily be putting them in danger/outing them.

As I often say: I didn't make my first pro sale until I was 43. I will be 47 when my first short story collection comes out. You are not too old.
Hey here's you're reminder: You're not too old to pick up a pen and learn to draw. You're not too old to learn an instrument. You're not too old to learn to sculpt, or write a book. You are not too old to create things.

This #PrideMonth if you're sitting there thinking "I wish there was more [insert identity here] rep..." I'm here to tell you there is. It exists. Someone, somewhere, is making it. Go fucking find them and support them. Giving queer indies money and spotlight is how you make more rep a reality.
