Yeah, the legacy media doesn't talk about the legal issues with the campaign monies nor do they talk about how the Heritage Foundation wants to hamstring the Dems in court if Biden were to drop out.l www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol... So damn glad I didn't get that Bachelor of Journalism in 1982.
Right-Wingers Plan to Make it Difficult for Democrats to Replace Bidenwww.rollingstone.com If Democrats want to choose a new nominee, experts don’t believe the Heritage Foundation can stop them — but that may not be the point.

Compact was a joint project of some “anti-woke” socialists and some “anti-woke” nationalists and so it comes as quite a surprise to learn that one of their senior editors has been exposed as a National Socialist.
no part of this is not absolutely hilarious

I mean, FFS: Biden has lost a few steps? No fucking kidding! But Trump has been ranting incoherently, about his dream of becoming Caligula, for 9 years now. Biden gets tired and loses his train of thought sometimes. Trump gets tired and promises to execute immigrants to feel better.

In good, Declaration of Independence form, the Heritage Foundation has not only declared their support for a 2nd American Revolution in the form of Trump 2.0, they are also assembling a long list of grievances, er, enemies to explain why that revolution is justified. newrepublic.com/post/183015/...

I think an enterprising journalist should name the donors who are willing to throw the country into fascism because they didn’t get their ego massaged on their birthday.

Still weird this very plain spoken call to mass violence isn’t dominating coverage!

Just to be really explicit about what’s happening here, the cover conflates age, physical disability, and cognitive disability, and goes on to conflate disability with unfitness for office. It’s utter bullshit.
IMO this is a straight-up ageist and ableist image, no?

Hell of a time to be sitting on a needs-editing fantasy novel that is largely about democratic backsliding and living under fascism

It’s a very obscure question but I did some research and it turns out that the president who led us out of the Depression and kicked Hitler’s ass was actually in a wheelchair? Who knew?
Kevin, I am not a historian, so IDK, but has there ever been a President in American History who used a mobility aid? And, if so, would you say this president who was so weak as to need, say, braces or a wheelchair, is considered to be one of the top President’s ever?

Lmao they just changed the title of the piece from “Why I don’t vote” to “Why I won’t vote” rather than tell readers that the guy actually does vote

That last bit is the most Olivia Nuzzi thing ever.
Amazing the Olivia Nuzzi story can’t get a single person to go on the record, and the strongest evidence against Biden’s mental health is he didn’t remember her name.

It’s legitimately amazing no donor would give their name to call Biden old or forgetful.

The CW like 10 minutes ago - which I think was correct - was that the best Dem scenario is a "referendum" election about Trump. Focus on his criminal behavior and record. Hard to do that when BIDEN OLD drowns you out. Putting the Dem contenders onstage now to hash out their weaknesses? Insane idea!

When I first saw this I thought "no, that can't possibly be true." But alas, the Times did indeed choose today of all days to publish a right winger's recycled piece about how they don't vote, failing to mention that the author basically thinks absolutist theocracies are cool.
On INDEPENDENCE DAY they published this. ON THE FOURTH OF JULY 2024 THE NEW YORK TIMES TOLD PEOPLE NOT TO VOTE. I'm furious.

Not only is this guy an asshole, he’s also wrong: many, many pre-modern regimes were very unstable and changed frequently. The difference is this change would come from civil wars between rival elite factions, wars that reliably immiserated the population

Why I Don't Vote (OK, I Do Vote, but I Would Like to Discourage You, NY Times Reader, For Doing So For Some Reason) Via @bubbaprog.ilovecitr.us
Man, if it turns out that the right winger telling NY Times readers that they should follow his example and not vote did in fact vote in the last two elections, the Times should add this to the piece. Better than a retraction, since it illustrates a willful hypocrisy.

also he literally does vote that shit is public record
1. The guy who wrote the "don't vote" essay says we're obligated as Americans to root for the Michigan Wolverines www.nytimes.com/2022/12/08/o... 2. he lives in 3 Rivers, MI & says your vote doesn't matter "even in municipal races." I found EIGHT elections in the past 10y decided by 1 vote there

Either the Democrats will run Biden, or he'll say he can't continue the campaign and Democrats will run Harris. Either is newsworthy, but neither is nearly as radical as running a pro-insurrection convicted felon with legal immunity he's eager to use.

I'd suggest that if they really believe different opinions should be represented then they should publish different opinions. Fascists get a fair shake as contributors. Do socialists? Trans folks? The problem isn't airing different views, but rather the opposite.
Times Opinion would argue different viewpoints should be represented. I’m fine with that (though the choice of opinions to publish defines what the paper is.) But NYT *MUST* disclose agenda and context if it wants its readers to fully evaluate a writer’s points. 2/3 bsky.app/profile/greg...
