Nothing is stopping every single Democratic elected official and apparatchik from taking the airwaves every single day to articulately and decisively repeat a set of cogent talking points about Trump (ie 45). Nothing. Dem PACs could be slamming him with ads now. Stop whining and do that.

i really am going to be logged off for the holiday but i would like to drop off a parting thought: publishing a monarchist anti-voting take on the fourth of july is the strongest possible indication of someone's core, true values

Everything *gestures wildly at the world* feels not great, but my kid took four unassisted steps yesterday, so Imma focus on that.

very much the words of a man who has never once worried, not for a moment, that he would be outside the law
More anti-democratic thoughts from 2018 the NYT allowed this writer to exclude from his current piece. Delivered with an air of detached irony, as if he miiight be joking or exaggerating. But is he?

I don't think people understand that if Biden DOES drop out and it's not Harris that functionally the entire Black Dem base will feel utterly betrayed. And Black women specifically will be just unbelievably upset.

Bring this energy to addressing every elected you have.
Gonna call Kathy Hochul today just to get some of my anger out before I go about my day

Was law school a mistake? Did it just create a bunch of people so wedded to the idea of the rule of law that they can't see the blatant exploding of the rule of law happening as a direct result of lawyers acting badly?

If you want to deescalate the conflict the only viable solution is to give the Palestinian people self-determination. Not limited self-rule under Israeli occupation, not a bantustan or a patchwork of enclaves, not "economic opportunity", but political emancipation.

Can I file a bar complaint against the justices of the supreme Court for failing to uphold the Constitution?

The Supreme Court had one job (not turn the president into a king) and it... Failed.

Today is an absolutely amazing day for the US! No notes, SCOTUS! Bang up job!

Oh, the day has started greaaaaaat...
First is Corner Post. Barrett has the court's 6-3 ideological decision holding that APA claims accrue from plaintiff's injury, not the date of the final rule — opening up all rules to possible new challenges. Jackson writes the dissent for the liberals. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/23p...

Just a reminder in advance that the Supreme Court is illegitimate and Thomas and Alito should have been kicked out of office months if not years ago.

You ever think about how Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was a multiple season long show that somehow consistently came up with songs that were good and moved the plot forward/gave insight a character's inner life? That's really impressive.

This is a depressing thing to think about. And I'm not sure people really grasp facts like this.
It is estimated that the total scope of reconstruction of the Strip will take anywhere between 40 and 80 years depending on whether Israel reimposes its illegal blockade and the degree to which its blockade is enforced. 40 to 80 years. If the war ends today, I will be 63 years old at the youngest.

as for the “not kamala either” crowd, hard to imagine a clearer signal to voters that you’re incapable of governing and cannot be trusted with power than both incumbents being booted from the ticket for a fresh start. it’s not serious

Gov. Hochul wore an MTA pride shirt. On the day congestion pricing was supposed to take effect. After killing it in a dubiously legal move.

I remember sitting in law school listening to professors say SCOTUS wouldn't overrule Chevron. Well, they did. And they did it making an absolutely wild claim.
Roberts, overruling Chevron with incredible and unearned hubris: "Perhaps most fundamentally, Chevron’s presumption is misguided because agencies have no special competence in resolving statutory ambiguities. Courts do."

I think my response to the people freaking out over an old man having a bad debate performance is similar to the people saying we had lock in to the old man in November and not be critical: It's early, please chill.

it’s striking how many charges against palestine protesters have been dropped. it’s good that reform prosecutors are doing the right thing. but at the same time, this shows how “the law” really boils down to cops deciding who they’ll brutalize apnews.com/article/univ...

I think this is the major takeaway from today. Neither case is sexy, but they both are saying a lot about how the current court wants to eliminate agency regulatory power. And they are very much destroying that power.
Today's decisions in Ohio v. EPA and SEC v. Jarkesy will likely not get the press that cases involving the major questions doctrine* might, but make no mistake, these are but smaller steps toward the significant limitation or elimination of regulatory agency power.
