I believe this is that special treatment they talk about.

Once again they treat him with kid gloves Where’s the drug test?
Avatar
So no drug test?

Just identifying his personal and business contacts with felons will take all afternoon.

“Ok… (sigh) ‘who around you isn’t a felon or under indictment?’…”

My guess to the report summary: "Defendant refused to admit guilt or show any remorse for the crimes they have been convicted of. Defendant continued to attack witnesses, the jury, and the court during the interview, made overt threats of revenge against all involved. "
Avatar
IANAL, but I'm betting unless she does something insane, like demand his cult attack a court member or the jury, he is getting probation and community service (hopefully with an org the court chooses, not his own charity that he controls and will just signoff on a lie that he did the work).
Avatar
*unless he.... Ideally community service that requires actual labor and is public enough for the news to actually show him working hard. Not something where he can pretend he did it and have his renfields lie. Get him to pickup garbage, or work in a soup kitchen.
Avatar
Avatar
If he was working a garbage pickup detail, someone would spot him, word would get around, and his presence would constitute a hazard as people converged on the location to taunt him and maybe throw trash at him.
Avatar
Shouldn't his lawyers argue that physical labor for someone as elderly and feeble as Trump would amount to cruel and unusual punishment?
Avatar
They will say he is “too busy on the campaign trail to do any community service” or some other BS that gets him of with doing nothing. I can’t imagine this judge would accept that.
Avatar
His charity was dissolved in 2019 under threat of litigation for abuses.

Boo! I wanted him to have to go in person!

This. I would pay to hear it.

Fuck congestion pricing... we can get $1b just with the pay-per-view

Too bad SNL is on hiatus for the summer. This would make a fantastic cold open.

On The Good Wife, Linda Lavin had a wonderful turn as a recurring role playing a pre-sentencing officer who made Carey Agos' life a living hell. May he get one like that
Avatar
he’s not gonna know how to turn the cat filter off
Avatar
More special treatment. How many convicted felons get to refuse to appear in person and refuse the normally required drug test?
Avatar
Could you imagine the poor social worker that gets assigned for this hot mess?
Avatar
"Trump’s campaign spokesman, Steven Cheung, said in statement..." AP News: why the f are we asking this guy for a statement? And just printing his bad faith BS?
Avatar
Scribes. They are all scribes.
Avatar
In person would have been better so he could have a meltdown and be arrested for assaulting a cop.
Avatar
Avatar
Once again, special treatment for convicted criminal trump.
Avatar
Is it unusual for 34x convicted felons to have their lawyer present at the probation interview?
Avatar
He should be made to litter pick 10 miles of highway verge , in an orange hi-vis jacket with a big sign “Offender “ across the back
Avatar
Anybody else ... ah well. So many what ifs. I wonder what he's going to say for that interview? It will be unlike any other interview he's ever done. He can't just walk out if he doesn't like the questions.
Avatar
Or take the 5th over 400 times as us his style.

Surely the serial violations of his gag order since the trial will help him! That Merchan hasn't made additional contempt charges against Trump for myriad gag order breaches since his 34 felony convictions does *not* bode well for the Felon Melon. I doubt it'll be prison, but house arrest? Maybe.
Avatar
In a just world prison would be on the table. A worse sentence than 2-3 months of House Arrest (which would be great, miss the RNC) -- would be a 6-12 month social media ban with the threat of prison should he violate it. Neither seem particularly likely but there's a non-zero chance, at least.
Avatar
He seems to have a history with professionals who will only say what he wants them to say, so I assume this will be awkward at best
Avatar
Does Florida not have an extradition treaty with New York?
Avatar
For him, specifically, I'm sure they don't. Fortunately, he has many properties in NYC, which gives them a bit of leverage.
Avatar
Shouldn't have been allowed to leave NY.
Avatar
Not an original thought, but why can't there be a huge effort to ensure trump is "assessed" for his suitability to be incarcerated. If he was found to be mentally impaired, or impaired in any way, he shouldn't be imprisoned...and he certainly shouldn't be allowed to run for President, pass it on
