I will bang this drum forever: in THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE FREE: THE GERMANS, 1933-45 Milton Mayer interviewed 10 ordinary Germans after WW2 to learn how fascism took hold. There was never a moment when everyone woke up:
if you’re waiting for everyone around you to wake up, you’ll wait forever. this is how the people grinding our bones to make their bread WANT you to be. paralyzed, alienated & purposeless

I recommend taking five to ten minutes to put your US rep, US senators, and state and local elected officials into your phone contacts so you can instantly call them whenever you get mad, which will be every day from now until we die.

Reminder that there are five ways to address the current SCOTUS problem. 1. Impeach some justices 2. Impose term limits 3. Expand the courts 4. Pass legislation limiting court prerogatives 5. Keep winning the presidency for the next 16 years or so while periodically also holding the senate.

It's such a wild coincidence that the court legalized bribing public officials a few days ago and today says that every activity the US government regulates now goes through them
Chevron famously said, "Judges are not experts in the field, and are not part of either political branch of the Government." Today, Roberts and the other chaos agents on the court say: "Judges are the only experts in any field, and can dictate policy to either political branch of the Gov't"

Again, I find it strange how much of this stuff is taking over the human side of things rather than the boring grind work. mrgan.com/ai-email-fro... is an interesting take. And, IMO, quite sad.
How it feels to get an AI email from a friendmrgan.com Recently I received an AI-written email from a friend. I'm trying to understand why I had the reaction to it that I did.

My favorite part of getting old is every once in a while when I’m shopping my brain will call up 1980s prices and I’ll get outraged. That candy bar costs $0.65 why am I being charged $2.50? What do you mean it’s not 1987 anymore?!
