Fuck, I remember when she posted that when it first happened. That’s so fucked

I remember her talking about it on Twitter and she just seemed so ... unflappable! And I remember thinking "that would not be me in that situation." This is true mutual aid - Linda Tirado is someone we know, respect, and owe a debt to.

Linda's a real one. True story: on Twitter last year, she offered to call people who needed to talk. I DM'd her my number not really expecting anything, but she called a couple hours later and we had a real conversation. She's such a bad-ass and doesn't deserve to have had her fucking eye shot out.

yup. and in the depths of some very dark scary ongoing insomnia she brought light, love, laughter, and solid human connection. it was what we needed then and she'd check in from time to time. she is a force and hopefully enough people can now help her family during hospice.

I saw those posts of hers and it was reassuring that someone would talk me when I was going through cancer treatment, even though I never reached out. She is an amazing human.

More people need to realize what rubber bullets actually are. The name makes them sound harmless. In reality, they're large metal projectiles wrapped in rubber to make them bounce off pavements before striking someone. They can be extremely lethal when fired at someone directly.

I noticed that Google didn't find many of the kinds of pictures I wanted for this post. There used to be so much more during the BLM protests. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, and it might just be another example of Google suckling these days, but it almost feels intentional.

this is a punch to the gut. i loved her presence back during the protests, and how she shrugged off losing the eye and went right back to fighting. i can't believe it's killing her. at my absolute calmest, the officer who shot her should be in jail

i agree with this statement in a complete vacuum but when you're saying it specifically in reference to a murderer (which naturally evokes violently protective responses in people) it really makes it look like you just want to defend the murder

when she dies they could charge the cop with murder, but they won't because society homeostasis is terrible.

Venmo tries to get you to enter the last 4 digits of Linda's phone. It lets you override this, though, and just send it on through.

also if you copy/paste the PayPal user name, you might need to add the '.com' for it to find her

Fuck, & I cannot stress this enough, the police. Linda is one of the best journalists, hell, people, around. She doesn't deserve this...no one does.

Thanks for posting this here, I hadn't heard much from/about her since I left the other site. This is infuriating and saddening.

When kids kept asking about her eye patch, Linda went and got a pirate tattoo so she could show it to them and play along. Truly a wonderful person.

Linda is such an incredible person whose words I find myself thinking on often, this is so heartbreaking and filling me with a rage that I can’t name.

My heart is broken.
