Ooh, an excellent look at how retail and mainstream clothing has become victim to the same homogenizing, serial-installation, always-online forces of engagement that have challenged other industries (gift link): wapo.st/3xLSH9j

It will be wholly unsurprising when Democrats do not hang this around his neck, but in another timeline, some Dem strategist somewhere is planning a full four-month blitz reminding every woman in America this is what they're in for.
From the JD Vance (Senate) campaign website. JD Vance would ban every single woman (or girl) from receiving an abortion, no matter the circumstances by which she was impregnated or the danger to her health. Maybe (just maybe) if she risks imminent death.

One of the components of the Girl Scout Law, which we go over with the scouts starting when they're Daisies, is to "respect authority." I have had a lot of talks with the kids about how authority rests on the consent of the governed & it's always respectful to question authority & its legitimacy.

This country had a president who wanted to shoot protestors and is calling for televised tribunals against his enemies; literally nobody who lives here maintains the delusion of security, especially when it comes to political actions. www.bbc.com/news/article...
American politics enters dark new chapter after Trump shootingwww.bbc.com The illusion of security and safety in American politics – built over decades - has been dramatically shattered.

No-having-A/C folks, I found the GREATEST sleep hack for a warmish house. The flat gel ice packs that often come with CSA deliveries? Wrap them in a cloth napkin (to trap condensation), slip them between two pillows, and you'll have a cool pillow all night. And when you flip the pillow? It's COLD.

The NYT went with this hed -- "Following Trump’s Lead, Republicans Adopt Platform That Softens Stance on Abortion" -- then failed to include any quotes that demonstrated the platform's before/after changes on abortion or explain how it was softened.
For reasons I do not understand, most of the mainstream press reported that Trump “softened” the gop position on abortion based on a platform that declares abortion should be illegal in all 50 states www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
Stop Soft-Pedaling the GOP’s Extreme Positionswww.theatlantic.com The party’s platform on abortion and LGBTQ rights is just as radical as ever.

This moment calls for a cartoon of Zaslav standing on a road as an anvil labeled "shareholder value" is dropped on his head. Meep-meep!
WBD's stock price has tanked ~78% since David Zaslav was announced as CEO— $32.68 on 05/19/21 to $7.32, today— to say nothing of the brand loyalty, goodwill, & creative talent he's destroyed. It is amazing & genuinely horrifying that anyone could fail this badly, & remain in a position of authority

Reskeet if you're still mad at Nader voters from 2000.
Just saw someone post that they want Biden to lose by a landslide in order to force the Democratic Party to change What year is it? Because I've seen this same argument against Clinton in 2016 and Gore in 2000 A huge loss WOULD change the party, but probably not in good ways

I'm old enough to remember when news outlets weren't required to turn as much profit as entertainment, & so could pay beat reporters with actual expertise to spend a long time working on informative pieces. Hot takes are so much cheaper.

Just like none of the bold investigators backfilling Joe Biden's feeble debate performance with punchy anonymous quotes have ever figured out why Trump was rushed to Walter Reed, claimed he wanted a spur-of-the-moment weekend checkup, and a year later declared that he had NOT had a series of strokes
"Executive Time" fell out of the coverage of Donald Trump in the most incredible way. Nobody writing about his quest to become president again ever mentions the fact that he hated the job when he had it and he couldn't and wouldn't really do it!

As a lawyer who worked in mass tort cases resulting from unsafe products, I would agree. Remember asbestos industry was unregulated, yet knowingly churned out unsafe. Old movies like Civil Action, The Insider, Erin Brockovich.. provide good examples why regulations and oversight needed.
