“They want to eliminate national parks” is a very simple way to get just about anyone on the Stop Project 2025 train. Are there much more glaring and life-threatening goals of P25? Yes but even your most bigoted cousin does not want to see the parks system sold for parts.
This!! Start with “they want to end no fault divorce, sell national parks, and ban porn” end with tax structure.

Bottom line from the latest Beryl discussion from Bob Henson and I: It is likely that Beryl will make landfall in Texas on Monday as a rapidly intensifying hurricane, most likely as a Cat 1 or Cat 2, but landfall as a major Cat 3 is looking less likely. yaleclimateconnections.org/2024/07/trop...

Hey 👋 everyone who added me from @costasamaras.bsky.social’s climate starter pack! Hi! I work on electricity policy for energy justice. I’m part of the California crew who fought for “equitable building decarb” and a member of @cplusc.bsky.social. I’m queer. And I’m a former oil and gas engineer.

The handful people working on river delta network topology and geometry gonna be blasting this space hopefully soon 😭
In the early Twitter days science types would show up and post when they had a new paper. Wonderful! But real talk y'all: papers take ages to write. So, post about other people's stuff! You read a paper and it was cool! Or you had a question! Or it tied to this other thing! Tag the authors!

Hyper local elections have insane consequences. If you live in San Diego, you can separately register and vote in your local community planning group which determines mobility/traffic, building zoning, community spaces. S/o for hillcrest, bankers hill, etc. www.uptowncommunityplanning.org
For the record: voting matters. So does turning up to school board meetings. Community board meetings. Planning and zoning board meetings. Making public comments on pending rules. Contacting public officials. Protesting. Running for office yourself.

Folks with terribly unpopular, & terrible, ideas want you to believe everyone is with them. They are not. 3 years ago a US Climate Corps, electric school & transit buses, & green infrastructure investments that cool down cities were just ideas. Now they’re real. With hard work, we can have hope. 🇺🇸

Write postcards. Give money to swing state campaigns. www.turnoutpac.org/postcards-faq/
Knocking on doors is the best, but that's pretty useless for people who live in solid blue states, unless we're able and willing to leave the state for such campaigns. But our financial contributions, especially this early in the campaign, help to open and staff campaign offices.

There have been 24 Atlantic storms in the Satellite Era (1966-present) which have gone through a >70kt rapid intensification within a 36-hour period. (Min start of 35kt) All of those storms originally formed in Aug, Sep, Oct, or Nov. Until Beryl. #Beryl is doing this in June.

Under the current Biden climate policies, if we work hard on implementing them, we can get to an 80% clean electricity system by the end of the decade. If those policies go away, there is zero chance we will get there. Let’s work hard to get to 80% and also add more climate policy to get to 100%.
80% total clean is the top end of the DOE model for 2030. Lots of things need to work out. Let’s make them work out.
