It's utter shit.
Although there is some joy in imagining Glinner sat in his underpants reading this, a look of apoplectic rage forming on his face as he screams to the heavens.
"That fucking woman has usurped me again!"
Bring on the Terf civil war.
A useful line of demarcation for Tablet's history is that at some point prior to 2016, they'd probably have published a piece like "so what's up with these goblin bankers" and now their main concern is that she'll say "WOMEN can't have PENISES"
I was expecting them to say JK Rowling has been active on some front that relates to what Tablet Magazine thinks the Jewish agenda ought to be but no, the whole kuntz is that she's just the most prominent transphobe
AIUI Rowling hasn't made the world much freer since her (creditworthy) lax policy wrt Harry Potter fanfic- her transphobic stuff did't increase freedom of speech, just more hate speech that people were already allowed to say. and she is successfully campaigning to restrict trans people's freedom
The fact that anti-science is mainstreamed by casually denigrating experts (they put the word in quotes) in favor of a random billionaire writer is a great example of just how decadent this country is.
I'm with the 1st paragraph. Wasn't following J.K. closely so didn't see this transphobia coming. Isn't Dumbledore gay? What's the diff? Am older than J.K., so extra disturbing. When my trans friends came out, my relationships didn't change. Was like "Didn't know that", at most. J.K. didn't have any?
I thought they were trying to pretend that "teaching CRT in public schools" and "DEI admissions" were two separate controversies? Harvard's president resigned during the DEI panic, so I guess this write-up can be considered an admission that it's all one big racism soup
No one - no one - claimed CRT didn’t exist. We said it didn’t exist in K-12 public schools because it didn’t. Mainly because it’s post-grad level Sociology; that is, for educated people capable of critical thinking in the first place. But the anti-CRT crowd couldn’t tell you what it was, so —
And even more extreme, “softening” history textbooks that discuss slavery and outright banning the factual history of the slave trade (for example, The 1619 Project). They want to return to the UDC-era “noble Lost Cause” myth I was taught. The clown car is all gas/no brakes five gears in reverse.
