Democrats have been President 12/16 years. We’re in this mess because of their fecklessness and I’ll still vote for them this time around because the alternative is so grim. The real question is who is organizing a realistic alternative between now and whenever the next Republican takes power?

I do often think about how regardless of who is president, this kind of stuff is visited upon marginalized groups without interruption and without fail, and even if *we alone* voted to stop it at a 100% rate on state & local levels, we'd still lose handily because not enough white people care.

The thing people ignore about the Omelas discussion is that a system that nurtures billionaires requires a lot of kids in holes.

I’m late to the party but Beautyland by Marie-Helene Bertino is the best fiction I’ve read in years. It might be the first time that I was feeling raw after finishing and the acknowledgments pushed me all the way over into sobbing uncontrollably. Sometimes it’s just so much to be a human.

I’m new to recommending books here, but I can’t think of a better choice to start than @izzyxen.bsky.social’s These Fragile Graces This Fugitive Heart. Queer noir with an emphasis on *queer*. Identity is central to the story in a way that is ambitious, smart, and cool. Can’t stop thinking about it.

So let’s just say I’m not interested in voting discourse. This ship is going down and it cannot be righted. Talk to me about the life preservers and what we do when we’re able to find land again.

I think about this Durruti quote all the time: We are going to inherit the earth; there is not the slightest doubt about that. The bourgeoisie might blast and ruin its own world before it leaves the stage of history. We carry a new world here, in our hearts. That world is growing in this minute.
