There are two perfect movies so far. Raising Arizona: “Well, which is it, young feller? You want I should freeze or get down on the ground? Mean to say, if'n I freeze, I can't rightly drop. And if'n I drop, I'm a-gonna be in motion. You see...”
“Those were $500 sunglasses, asshole!”

I just sold Darren the bartender on the idea of listening to music from x years ago (for me, x=47) and watching movies from x years ago is a great idea. So now he’s going to get his friends to do it.

Why would you ruin a perfectly good poodle by mixing it with another breed?

I had a vivid dream about Rishi. He came to speak at a tech event and I ended up riding the lift down with him afterward. He was kind of depressed about everything so I tried to cheer him up.

Somebody asked me if I liked the fourth, and I immediately asked: “do you mean the programming language?”

Look I cannot recommend a better way to improve your life than going to the local animal shelter and asking, “what is the nicest cat you have” and then adopting them, especially if they are plain and old

I found out today that my apartment is inside the security zone for the RNC in July. That means if I drive out my vehicle will have to be inspected when I return. And the park I take my dog to so she can do her business is a designated protest area. I think I’ll plan to leave home for the week.

The cat and dog had to stay in a kennel while I traveled. It’s a nice kennel but they can’t stay together, so they’re glad to be back home.

A reminder that the best way to establish that you are who you say you are when you join BlueSky is to post a unique picture of your cat. #proofOfCat is the most valid form of ID

Duke Nukem is now Dyke Nuke-They/Them. Like and repost if this post seems like something a woke society would do to an iconic alpha male character and you’re already so furious about this hypothetical scenario that your girlfriend quietly went into the other room with her dinner

The answer to this depends both on what language you are learning and what languages you already know.
Poll time! (okay bsky doesn't have polls yet but humour me) What do you think the hardest part of learning a language is? a) pronunciation b) learning all the words c) understanding people d) grammar e) sticking with it f) feeling awkward trying to talk with people g) something else (reply!)

Businesses are already passing along the costs of congestion to their customers in the form of wasted fuel and money spent paying delivery drivers an hourly wage to sit in traffic. The fallacy we have to counter is that the status quo is free. It is not.
@thewaroncars.bsky.social I just listened to your latest episode and I think you missed something: bodega workers may not use cars to commute, but the goods they have in the stores got there by truck, and thus the congestion pricing will reflect in price hikes of goods.

It’s the same in Danish. I couldn’t watch this with a straight face.
The word *Speed* in Norwegian is fart, leading to exactly what you imagine happened in 1994.

Reskeet how old you are, using a vague proxy. The first presidential election I was old enough to vote in was Bill Clinton vs George H. W. Bush.
Reskeet how old you are, using a vague proxy. Walking in lower manhattan w/ HS friends on our way from the Mayor's Office, where we had done a high school internship, when we heard a ton of sirens. We found out that the WTC had been bombed and went to find payphones to check in safe w/ parents.

Here's how ridiculous falsifying record is: I wrote down that it was a "legal expense" but it turns out it was an illegal expense. So now they say I also falsified records!
