Fundamental attribution error is an interesting cognitive bias. Suppose you are having the world's shittiest day. Your spouse just died in a fire that also took your home, you just got diagnosed with cancer, etc. You're sitting in a hospital waiting room.

I think there’s also a BIG distinction between people simply expressing their own feelings of fear and distress (reasonable!), and people who go around trying to convince OTHERS to feel as fearful and distressed as they do.

I think a lot about the fact that a lot of people don't have safe places in real life to say to someone else: "I'm really scared." So people use social media for that but don't preface the posts with: "I'm really scared." It usually comes out as "we're all doomed and gonna die" or as jokes.

Wear a mask. Even if you just start popping one on at the store, on the metro, in meetings at work, at your job when someone else is in a mask.
