Breaking News: A Parkinson’s expert visited the White House eight times in eight months from last summer through this spring, according to official visitor logs. The administration has said that President Biden has no signs of the disease.
The Parkinson's angle in particular has been so fucking strange to me because it is very obviously the result of a game of telephone with "dementia -> alzheimer's -> parkinson's" because MUMBLING AND FORGETTING THINGS IS NOT WHAT FUCKING PARKINSON'S IS
Like someone in either a GOP or press group chat mixed up the two diseases and we now have to deal with all of this hot air because they've committed to it. It's so fucking weird!!
In fairness a common symptom (which my father had) is a weakening of the vocal cords. Seeing biden's stiffness and gait along with his voice primed me to credulity when i saw the nyt headline. but given the straightforward denials and the unmentioned legislative context, this is bs fuck the nyt
The most obvious non-Biden explanation I've seen is that for the last year the administration has been pushing Parkinson's legislation, that was signed last week.
Of course, if that or something like it *is* the explanation, it's quite possible it won't be believed.
I wonder, though: with eight visits to the White House in eight months, it's quite possible that records will show Biden wasn't even in DC for some of those times. Although Biden doesn't travel a huge amount, by President standards.
The NYT Parkinson's "scoop" is even worse than it seems from the headline, bc buried in paragraph 11 the reporters *know* Dr. Connard met with someone other than Biden, and on March 28, 2024 the President's Public Schedule shows Biden was in NYC the whole day
Seems to me that a lot of speculation about everyone going back to paying a lot of attention to the news (with eyeballs and money) is going to depend on there not being a substantial narrative of "The New York Times ratfucked the Democrats twice to give us Trump."
New idea. You hire these people that can look into things and report on them. You can call them lookintoers. Ok, maybe that name needs a little work. They'll investigate while doing journalism. So, journastigate. Eh, we can workshop it.
Yeah... if it's it's something that I'd toss a black at a rando for, I sure as hell am gonna decide that's the point where I'm done having a major newspaper showing up on my feed. See ya, NYT. Or not.
