Everything about this process has been awful and expensive but hey: ten days later, I’ve managed to pay for and get access to my new much worse health insurance purchased via the NY marketplace. Tying access to healthcare to employment is an absolute nightmare.

I ran into a friend on my way home from happy hour and she asked about my debate watching plans. I laughed. I was never going to watch the debate and I am especially not going to after three rounds of $6 happy hour sangria.

For this campaign to launch at the same time that NAF announces that they need to cut their pledges from 50% of procedure cost to 30% in most cases (www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...) is infuriating. Abortion funds could do so much with just a smidge of this “awareness campaign” budget.

100% agreed - my shul has certainly demonstrated that lately.

I’m actually fairly certain that protests outside synagogues will only extend the fight for those goals! Those Jews on the left who are hard at work pushing other Jews in our lives to consider the horrors committed by the Israeli government lose ground because of protests at synagogues.

I think that Amtrak might be overcompensating for the weather outside by attempting to freeze me on this train.

Gotta focus on this right now, when I’m unemployed and searching for what’s next.

If there were one piece of advice which I would give to a young person that I think is applicable to every career (and other parts of life) it would be: You have to say what you want, out loud. No one can see inside your head. If you want to do a job or get into an area, you need to say so.

I spent summers without AC in the 2000s. I was also at a camp in the Poconos, got in a pool or lake twice a day most days, and had few 90+ days all summer. I don’t get why people don’t see the difference between that and my 2024 NYC apartment. And my old camp might need more AC’ed space nowadays!

No, I am not making up our cultural tendency towards air conditioning shaming. Here’s a perfect example of the type of smug Northeastern/Atlantic argument I’ve been seeing for a very long time, published in the Washington Post:

The number of people in my shul groupchat who think one video of an anti-genocide activist yelling on the subway is a good enough reason to support Hochul's push for a mask ban is WILD.

I compared it to sexual harassment, dudes with their dicks out etc on the subway - a thing I just expect will happen sometimes because the NYPD doesn't do shit about it - and they couldn't explain why the NYPD would do a better job at protecting them from this sort of yelling.

I'm finding that the liberal Zionist types at my shul aren't necessarily saying that what's happening is "justified and good" without complication - and if it weren't for their openness to complication and nuance I would struggle much more to pray beside them.

Love when the internet is back at complaining about that one woman I had classes with in college who has terrible opinions and gets paid to write about them.

I had a very not a big deal surgery about eighteen months ago and they required me to have someone pick me up - and I probably needed it, but I had to ask a LOT of friends before I could find someone able to meet me at the surgical center and take a cab home with me!

The amount that it is clear to me that this man has never so much as considered hiking with a carrier-pack-thing for their toddler so that his wife can use that time for activities she enjoys!

I think that 50% of why I keep going to a dentist that isn’t near home or the office is so that I have an excuse to work from cute coffee shops in the Village after my appointments.
