right, like, the natural question to this hypothetical replacement candidate is "what would you, as president, do differently than the biden administration has done", and i doubt you find anyone willing to discuss that
people want to believe that you can just swap out biden no harm no foul, but there is nothing about this system as constituted that allows that. but rather than grapple with this, the response is basically to scream “nuh uh”

I said in an argument last night that it’s like saying we should convert the US grid to solar (a pretty good idea) by shutting down all coal plants next month (a disaster that wouldn’t even get you to your goal)
I have conversations like this about health care.
Any attempt to just go straight to single-payer would be a disaster. Every person employed in health care or insurance would have to renegotiate their contracts all at once, as would the majority of the insured, as would a fuckton of others.
