There is never any shame in using the library, and much benefit in doing so. They are the closest thing to an unmitigated social good that we have in these United States, which is why the hard right is gunning so fervently for them these days. A world without libraries and librarians is a poor one.

My book-buying budget is not what it once was, which is precisely why I’m using the library more. It also gives me the opportunity to read books that I’m not sure I want to add to the home library (not that there’s a lot of room to do that anyway).

Well, we certainly don't want children growing up to believe they are allowed to hide their sins from the government (like being LGBTQ or smart and curious or Jewish/Muslim/atheist).

Poverty is a policy choice. Mass incarceration is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. Insulin rationing is a policy choice. Climate disintegration is a policy choice. Billionaire tax loopholes are a policy choice. Make no mistake: We have the power to change things.

Successful companies are not built in a vacuum. They use the same roads, water lines, and sewer pipes as the rest of us, not to mention our air, water, and soil. Maybe they should be paying back into the system?

Remember: Most billionaires are not “self-made.” They’re made via a combination of inherited wealth, government subsidies, tax loopholes, labor exploitation, and policy failures. Can we stop perpetuating a myth that blames wealth inequality on the choices of everyday Americans?

Their hypocrisy has always been one of my favorite things about the QOP.

It contained many things I like in SF, traveling to distant worlds, meeting strange alien species, and killing them. #HumanityFirst I also loved the trademarked tech (SmartBlood, BrainPal).
