In the Spring of 1864 Twain, while working as a beat reporter for the SF Morning Call, Twain witnessed the murder of a Chinese laborer by a mob that included cops. It radicalized him. He wrote it up, one of the first things he ever authored which he thought deserved to be called “literature”… 2/

My first reaction to someone like Marc Rowan trashing the institution that he's supposed to be helping to govern is to hit back, to snark, to mock. But there's something deeper in me that just says: this is a betrayal of the responsibility you take on when you agree to be a trustee.

A few days ago I met a pal, an OB-GYN who is working at a service that sends abortion pills (mifepristone and misoprostol) to women who need them in states that ban abortion. She asked me to help spread the word about how to use the service, and asked me to ask you guys to pass on the info. 1/6
