A "human source" could mean literally anyone. It could mean someone heard a guy who's a friend of the friend of the brother-in-law of the guy who fixes the vacuum cleaner for the Ayatollah's housekeeper who said "oh yeah we're totally gonna get Trump."

Human intelligence is, in many cases, is the *most* unreliable source of intelligence in the entire field of intelligence collection and analysis because people can and will just make shit up or will misremember things or mishear things or connect dots that aren't there etc.

I don't doubt there are people in the Iranian government who want Trump dead, but this reported plot seems *extremely* tenuous and I bet its only being briefed because the admin was petrified of it getting out another way and getting twisted against them. It just seems so *dumb*

Normally, I tend to take these sorts of things closer to face value than a lot of other folks on the Left when they get announced. But I dunno, this time I can't really say anything other than "lol" followed promptly by "lmao." Maybe I'm wrong, but it just all sounds dumb.

I listened to this the whole way through and I really needed it today, badly. There are definitely reasons to be concerned and you *should* be concerned and you should not be complacent, but the situation is not as bleak and hopeless as many are saying it is. Don't give up.

We'll see how long it takes the BBC to skulk back into post a new Tweet (if at all)

Ok I'm done with my mini-war on the BBC (for now).

In case it isn't' obvious, the BBC Tweet with the misleading "regrets" headline has been deleted (but only after being left up for a full hour). The article remains up on the BBC site with the (evidentially) correct "defends" headline.
Biden defends calling Trump a threat to democracywww.bbc.com President responds to accusations from Republican politicians that he fuelled threat to Trump with rhetoric.

Anyway, Joe Biden (and every Democrat) *should* be still saying Trump and the GOP are threats to democracy no matter how hard the hit dogs holler, because its true and the events on Saturday didn't change that in the slightest, and I hope they double and triple down on that message going forward.
Avatar
To be 100% clear, the headline in the actual article (which was posted slightly before the Twitter link) is Biden *defending* calling Trump a threat to democracy (which is true and he should say it), and yet the BBC Twitter link with the incredibly misleading headline remains up.

Also the BBC is getting absolutely ratioed for it, to which I say: lol, lmao.

The Constitutional Crisis is already here. You are living inside it. No way back, for better or worse. Either fight to win the future or concede to fascist tyranny taking over our country, the world's largest economy and mightiest military.

Here’s the shitty thing about being the good guy: If you believe (rightfully in my opinion) that the continued existence of the Republic and the next 50 years of American democracy are on the line, you’re *morally and ethically obligated* to keep up the fight, even if it had Biden at a 1% shot
For all the terrified Democrats squealing that Biden has no chance, please just stop your sobbing. We absolutely can win.

I've thought much over the last few weeks where I've thought about how much easier it must be to be blackpilled and a doomer because you don't have to deal with the stress and exhaustion of having hope that things could be better or actually having to do anything to achieve it. But I'd hate it.

JD Vance going from 'Trump is America's Hitler and that's why I oppose him' to 'Trump is America's Hitler and that's why I'm running to be his Vice President' -- truly, what an arc

this needs to be in every attack ad
not really sure that choosing the authoritarian oaf for vice-president really does much to distance the campaign from project 2025’s “government by authoritarian oaf” vision

Yep, Trump sure is good at calling for national unity, by which he means “give me everything I want or I’ll kill you.”

Just gonna leave this here as I try to step away from news and social media for the rest of the night and as we prepare to step into a new week on the ride that never ends:

People have a right to feel and express their feelings, but I absolutely do draw the line at “making yourself feel better by trying to convince others to feel as hopeless as you do.”
I think there’s also a BIG distinction between people simply expressing their own feelings of fear and distress (reasonable!), and people who go around trying to convince OTHERS to feel as fearful and distressed as they do.

I think a lot about the fact that a lot of people don't have safe places in real life to say to someone else: "I'm really scared." So people use social media for that but don't preface the posts with: "I'm really scared." It usually comes out as "we're all doomed and gonna die" or as jokes.

Its wild how AOC believing that elections are things you "organize to win" that involve more on running media management campaigns from DC, puts her out afield of so much of the establishment

There's been a lot of quotes in recent memory from "unnamed senior official" and "unnamed well-placed source" and etc. But if this one is true, it really speaks to either how out of touch with reality senior Dems are, or how little they care about what happens to us (or both).

Like, you can't say Donald Trump and the GOP are threats to democracy (they are) *and* that you're "resigned to a second Trump Presidency" and not be the most pathetic, cowardly, weak, spineless, selfish, clueless set of losers in American political history.
