The one thing I remember about “the postman” is that he cast his own daughter as a character who had a crush on his character. Deeply weird and deranged
Today michael shear and the editorial desk has decided the most important story is whether or not an 82 year old guy with a lifelong speech impediment said “as good as” or “goodest” in an interview.
The phrasing at the end is so bizarre, subconsciously telling on himself. “But it can’t be” like he has no agency or mind of his own and the story HAS to be what the herd of punditry demands
They condescendingly said “the readers will be our public editor” but whenever a mildly critical reply is given they either condescendingly huff “did you READ the article” and/or block
The (one of many) galling things to me is Roberts defended the insane lawless stuff then chided the hypotheticals. Like, he wanted to use live rounds on protesters twice.
This reminds me of when Ezra Klein wrote a big article about how larry Krasner being “soft on crime” lost him the da election then he got 65 percent or whatever and then he simply changed the first word to “despite…”
Right. We used to get endless “in this Ohio diner these (actual Republican operatives) still support him despite x) but they are so pathetically lazy they’ve simply moved the Overton window to where it no longer even exists
This is a feature of theirs for sure. They take the most absurd rw premise then retcon the tiniest kernel of truth within it to explain away the entire story
And unthinkable that the Philadelphia Inquirer would put them on blast within 24 hours. Why anyone thinks their opinions should matter defies logic.
(Except for Jamelle Bouie who is great)
Peterson passed away a few months ago. Stayed married all those years to Kekich’s former wife.
Separately, this Russell story made me think how Favre got away with far worse crimes.
I’ve just read the piece. As expected, it’s vague and 95 percent vibes. He provided no specifics nor any historical context (FDR, Reagan) and gave Trumpian thoughts “more respected” or similar. Truly a waste of column inches and as always infuriates me that he has a lifetime sinecure doing it.
I mean, yes, but Luntz gives away the game here from the jump. This is “heads Trump won, tails Biden lost” which is about as dishonest as an allegedly neutral pollster can be.
