Okay one more thing. Jamelle Bouie was not the only new york times employee, not even the only regular poster with an opinion column on this website, and I think people should do some real self-reflection on why he was singled out for the sins of that fucking newspaper.

There’s a bookstore in my town in SW Virginia with an entire shelf devoted to how much JD Vance sucks and doesn’t speak for Appalachia, which I’ve always had the sense is a somewhat bipartisan consensus out here, so I confess I am curious to see how that ends up playing.

It's because they want to privatize weather. They tried doing it under his last administration but many people didn't really notice beyond the weird hurricane drawing he did. It's also why they cut (or at least tried to it's been a minute since I read that stuff) a bunch of NASA Earth's funding too

They have such winning ideas like “why don’t we charge people who want to know if that tornado is gonna hit their house.”

Does anyone know of any companies that make cute-patterned duckbill-style N95 masks? I’ve been wearing one at home since I have Covid and I forgot how comfy they are and how good of a fit I can get in them

Cute is of course not necessary for protection but it does help me feel even better about wearing them. I love masking my cute KN95s to my outfits

I have over 100 cute KN95 masks on standby but I have a feeling I’ll be indoor masking for a long time at this point, perhaps forever at hospitals 😢

I maintain that New Mexico is unmatched in regional foods. We don’t have something as specific as “Chicago style pizza” but we add green chile to everything and it works out at least 95% of the time. That consistency can’t be matched 😂

Biden has done 3 live tv appearences related to the shooting since where he calls for unity. Trump has disappeared and done nothing. The resulting press coverage is covering an imaginary version of Trump as if he had said unity stuff. Like literally they are making up a fake guy to praise.

Having a sick day. My friend recommended I try The Circle, which might be the most absurd and mostly wholesome reality tv show I’ve ever seen.

So far, the things I find the most interesting about it is a) it talks about being the best in social media, but it’s really about being the most liked in a group chat and b) they only use hashtags as subtle asides because the hashtags aren’t actually functional, like Instagram ten years ago

(Which were actually functional! But that’s when people were using them that way)

Ok this game is actually terrible and rewards mean behavior but I cannot stop watching it because I’m too invested
