One of the biggest problems with how we talk about democracy in this country is that so much of it is simply centered on voting, as if the most minimum requirement for a democracy is also all that defines it.

Homeless people can be arrested for sleeping, Presidents cannot be arrested for rampant graft and corruption done while in office. There is no clearer a summary of "conservative 'law and order'" than this.

I get why people want to discuss the debate. They are pure political theater. Can we please have an equally voluminous discussion about today's opinions? I don't know what the future looks like as our ability to regulate waste and the toxic consequences of industrial production is stripped away.

Just reiterating this, because, unfortunately, it appears to be increasingly relevant.

If Biden literally shat himself during one of the debates, his opponent would still be the guy openly vowing to send federal troops to take over cities, set up mass detention camps, and imprison his critics. The only sane position would still be Team Pants Shitter.
